New York Doll = Great Rockumentary

Post by madmatt » Sun Oct 30, 2005 3:43 pm

Me and my Queen Dani just saw New York Doll at Laemmle, and OK, the boyfriend of our good friend Hollie made it...BUT AWESOME FUCKING MOVIE!!!

Go see it, even if you never heard of the New York Dolls. It really rocks, great story, well told, very moving, funny, interesting, the whole 9 yards.

Matt.

Dolls Rock! Yeah! "Personality Crisis"! Johansen was GREAT as the cabbie in Scrooged, too. (I forgive him for Buster Poindexter.)

Oh buster was okay in his way, produced decent music. Sure, it sort of takes from his legacy, but for all Johnny Thunders' purity, do you really want all your rock stars dieing of heoine overdoses?

Oh, and Down in the Jungle.

Wait till you see the sad shape Johanson is in in the film. BTW, it was really interesting to see how some of the old rockers had gotten over the bad stuff, and reemerged as looking healthy, fit and with some semblance of a career, while others - well, you know.

There was something sorta doomed about the dolls from the get go. What do you expect from someones whose 2nd (and last) album was called "Too Much Too Soon"?
