Yeah. I'm tired of dating lame, non-burner chicks. Or should I just move to San Francisco?

There's a Burning-Singles group on Yahoo!Groups. It's a good one, I was a part of it for a long time. There's a standing rule of post or be purged, they don't allow lurking. Which is a good thing Image
They're pretty assiduous about keeping out the knuckle-dragger element.

The moderatrix came on here but some hotshot accused her of trolling, undeservedly. Thoroughly encourage you to look them up Image

OK I just checked it out. It's for west coast, only. I'll just date those twenty-something chicks in the local group who want me.

I thought the same thing... most years, going to BM means getting rid of the girlfriend. Not that I WANT it that way, but you all know how it is.
I thought, "It'd be really cool to have a girlfriend who was also a burner... then BM wouldn't be a deal-breaking issue all the time!"

Someone told me about a site for just that...
Yes, there is a "Burning Singles" Yahoo group, and it's about as lame as possible.
I mean, it's OK as a BM chat site, but little to no "dating" happens. I don't mean just me, I never saw or heard about any between anyone.
They email a lot... but there's no "dating" going on there.

By all means, check it out if you so desire...

The Captain gives it Two Thumbs Down.

Yahoo group: Why not remove location requirement?

Post by Bjorn the Terrible » Sat Nov 12, 2005 9:59 pm

I just checked out that Burning man singles yahoo group, and it could totally work on a national level if the pacific NW requirement were just eliminated. Then anyone who wanted to could participate, in the spirit of Burning Man.

Just chiming in here.............LAME.

Burner girls are a rare breed. You can’t just get them on the internet per say.

I can set up a burner dating site. I'm not in the market cause I'm pretty much satisfied myself, but I would love to do a justice with the intelligent burner individuals that need hooking up.

Give me some time. I hope to have it online in a way that is truly (I hope.) burner acceptable.

Yeah, I've thought about doing this, too. It would be relatively easy. In fact, I'd make it more like a place to make new friends AND new boyfriends/girlfriends. Then I wondered if it wouldn't be smart, to increase the number of people using it, to expand it to include burners AND burner-like people, artists, builders of art and machines (though I don't know a word for that). Freakdate.com? (taken but you get the idea of where I'm going here). Thoughts?
It's what you make it.

The current methods have the wrong approach. Don't look for burner women, look for burner type women. November is a good time to start talking about the next BM. It builds the anticipation.

Right. That's what I'm looking for. A friend of mine with our crew this year brough a girl who'd never been and she loved it. I'm seeing a girl now and really worried about her being into it (the burning man aspects, not just the camping aspects). I wish I didn't have to wait until August (since Burning Man is unlike just going to a regional)...however, I'm involved in the local community and we have a decompression next weekend so I'm like, "Bring the girl who might be into it or meet a girl there who is definitely into it..." I'll probably try the former since I need to give her the chance... We also have a couple of local events next year so I guess we'll see.

That's the spirit. I'm not a Burning Man, but I'm Burning Man "type." The fact that I was interested in going next year peaked the interest in my wife. She's already done some research on logistics.

Go find someone that wants a different week. A week that will be different from the rest, one that she'll never forget. Or just pick out someone at random and introduce them to the concept. You may be pleasantly surprised.

'Just scott' is 100% correct. And 'burner-type' doesn't have to mean 'with purple hair and pierced nipples' either. My wife looks ordinary, is frightened by nakedness (hers and others), and doesn't even drink, and she loves BM. In fact, in order to keep going she needs more comfortable accomodations, and SHE'S going to buy a camper trailer!! I have to provide the truck that'll pull it.

Just find someone with an appreciation for the absurd, a good sense of humor, no stick up the butt, and you're ready to go as far as I'm concerned.

That's correct. One of my (quite normal looking) wife's favorite activities is people watching. BM is just about the best place on the planet for that.

It doesn't have to mean that but I wouldn't turn someone down with those attributes either. Some people prefer that sort of thing.
