Looking for Midwest Burners

Post by nhyrvana » Wed Nov 09, 2005 5:20 pm

Anyone out there who is in the Central Illinois area? I know there are lots of Chicago people, but is there anyone further south maybe?

I'm in Champaign-Urbana and I am going to Burning Man in 2006. Please don't make me go all by my lonesome. =)

The midwest burners are a VERY active group (so much so that I envy them). They have the site, a Yahoo group and an active mailing list. Sign up and introduce yourself.
It's what you make it.

Would like to meet IL burners! I'm a 2X burner, ('01,'04) looking for a better way in than the Green Tortoise bus...

I'm located about 5 miles east of the AMTRAK City of New Orleans stop at Carbondale. There was a regional burn here- "Burning Carp", so there are locals with BM spirit.
"New Dawn Fades" feeds me.

I'm not THAT far away, here in West Michigan...This year I plan to expand and connect with burners throughout West Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio- There are some Art Events and Special Projects that I've been mulling for some time, now.
Also eagerly awaiting my traditional Birthday Trip into Chitown- American Science And Surplus!

American Science and Surplus? That's on my Chicago list this month along with IKEA....I hope I have room to haul everything back home. I'm hoping it doesn't snow over Thanksgiving weekend so I can get up there.

Yep. IKEA's on the list, too. I'm in love with the "project corner" where they sell the scrappy bits....Got three huge silver shelf-units for fifty cents apiece. (Wife was pissed, having to share the car with them on the way home.) Also on the list: Pappadeux (awesome seafood restaurant, a couple miles North of IKEA in Arlington) and Mitsuwa (Japanese supermarket- great sushi selection and Hello Kitty appliances....got a HK toaster for the nieces last time!).
