Larry: USN 1977-1997 ET1(SW)

My Dad's a three war navy vet (master chief at that), his father was a purple heart WWI marine; Larry's dad was in the Navy during WWII.

Yes, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Joel, I wasn't trying anything. But sometimes I think it would be nice to recognize the service that PCV perform.

no argument from me.

last evening i saw a 60 minutes report on 13 NYC EMTs going to Pakistan to provide medical support deep into the mountains.

we need a national service corps for emergency aid relief among other things...

we need a new "Civil Defense Corps"

not a military entity, but one capable of providing to the basic needs of people before and after disasters...

does anybody remember the phrase "Be Prepared"?

i do, and we (the USA) aren't... IMHO, of course.
