Ya. Apparently he's received some pretty nasty emails, flames here and I think he's perceived some attempts to... help his communication style... as flames.

He asked the admins to wipe his account. I'd love to have the names of anyone sending him shit to his email. I mean really. Fuck that.

I'm a bit mystified. . . what happened? I obviously don't know the full story of what transpired with Kinetic/Kiamix. But I'm saddened by the loss of an active member of the community.

This is supposed to be a forum for sharing thoughts and dreams and jokes and little moments of our lives. . . not a launching pad for personal attacks.

I think that's a quote from Kinetic. Sounds like someone was flaming him heavily which is unfortunate - he mentioned some flames earlier but I didn't know it had gotten that bad.

I'm not trying to flame you - and I think Dogboy was more or less joking around about the drunk thing but your posts have been... kind of vague today and I think a lot of folk have just been trying to find out whether or not it's your writing style or if your trying to yank our chains.

This is pure speculation but I'd guess something else was going on. Flamers are easy to deal with (unless they got hotmail accounts): just keep their blatherings in an "Instant-Karma" folder, killfile 'em and report them to <i>abuse at flamer's isp dot com</i>, forwarding said flamer's e-mails.

Damn. This really sucks, I liked the guy.

Just letting you know that the admins were notified. Kinetic worked out a solution that he felt was appropriate. If you want more details, you'd have to ask him.

I know that our response to harassment was mostly "sorry, please try to ignore" in the past, and we reallly really don't want to police the boards. However, until we get more moderators in place, I want to let you know that you can notify me or Emily Sparkle if you are having issues with another eplayan you don't feel you can/should have to deal with. We will keep those conversations private unless you request that they are escalated.

Also, we're working on an eplaya-specific community /terms of use agreement. Respect isn't something that should have to be codifed, but sometimes it has to.

i'm sorry to see him go, i think.

he had a fair amount of drama in his life, and he sometimes aimed it at things going on here, but it was pretty clear that there was a good human underneath trying to make it all work.

i hope that wherever he goes, for however long, is a positive step in that direction.

Yeah, I agree kinetic is probably a good guy under all that drama. May have shared a bit tooooo much personal info, but some of it made for interesting reading. Reminded me of a friend who if you were to mention a food you like around him, he would recite the whole damn recipe from scratch. Every fucking detail, whether you wanted it or not. Could be humorous or interesting; depended on the topic and your mood. Hope K-man wasn't theatened or anything.

Alpha was right, I am back. Let's set the story straight and move on. This will not be a TMI post. Just facts.

On Monday I asked the admins to kill the Kinetic account which they quickly did upon request. There are a couple of reasons why.

1: A person who lurked on this board is a relative of the ex psycho g/f I mentioned in other threads. I made the mistake of enabling my e-mail address to be viewable and they took advantage of it to send me offensive and downright threatening e-mails. Monday was all I could take of what became death threats against me and my family. Several steps have been taken to insure that my safety and that of my family is protected before it got out of hand. This person is not an active poster on the board, he came to lurk and to harass me and that was it.

2: There is another e-playa member who engaged me in a discussion about several of my postings. This person did their best to make my life a living hell for the past 3 weeks. I work in the customer service field and while my online persona doesn't show it that well, in reality I take flak daily, I have 11 years experience with it. This person launched some very nasty attacks that no amount of reason would work against. The admins were informed of the situation and I give Emily Sparkle and Technopatra the highest praise for offering to help. But since this moved off the e-playa there was nothing they could do. I had to put an end to it myself. Now that I am back, he will likely start flaming me again, but he won't have my e-mail address to bomb my inbox on a daily basis. And instead of being nice and staying silent, I will cross post his flames for all to see. He should consider this a warning, I will post the threats and the community will quickly make life very uncomfortable.

Side issues: I made a lot of sloppy posting mistakes. I posted way too much and my posting style also grated on some people's nerves. Digiman, your posting almost like I did, I can tell you it quickly alienates people. Badger and several others tried to tell me, but I was too stressed and frazzled to listen. I used e-playa looking for sympathy, I was too stubborn to admit I had a problem. By posting this bit of TMI, I hope others can learn from my mistakes and not repeat it.

While I annoyed several people, I also inspired others along the way and the admins took notice of that. I have asked them to be considered for a moderator position should they choose to enable some. I hope I can take my mistakes and keep others from making them and to help keep the threads organized a bit more. Having been on both the old and new e-playa I feel I could find common ground on issues and try to keep everyone grumbling a little bit less. And I might be able to keep the threads cleaned up which would make some people very happy.

We all make mistakes, and there are no style guides for electronic postings on places like e-playa. There are a lot of unwritten rules though...I learned them the hard way. To all I offended, I apologize. To those who liked my comments, thanks for the kind words. Until the account was deleted, I had no idea the impact I had on people on here. It was a real shock to see some of the comments. Thank You!
