Hi All,

Thanks to an esteemed friend, I made several trips out to the Playa in 2004 and 2005, and after hearing about Burning Man, I had to become a part of it. Awesome experience, will forevermore be there. The Torii of the Temple elegantly and unforgettably served its purpose as a portal between worlds.

Seeing the community from the air on several different days provided a great perspective on the growth of the community, and I look forward to chronicling the growth in pictures during the coming years. The immensity is nothing short of spectacular.

I'm a native Californian who just happens to live in Reno and work overseas. I'm looking forward to years of designing and building things to amuse, entertain, and otherwise cause a smile or two out in the great arid expanse. There is much to learn, and I look forward to meeting and learning here in the eplaya.

Hey im Adam from Kitchener Ontario Canada (The cold North East) I learned about this great festival from Donn Cortez's Book "The Man Burns tonight" and was immediately interested. Though I am only 17 I plan to attend The Burn in the next couple of years.

Hello, I have never been to a Burning Man......and I am already an addict. I am going to try to plan to be there in 06. My current girlfriend just doesnt get it, so by Aug of next year I will probably be single...and available...

I have just spent the last 4 days looking at every single picture in the gallery and reading everything on the website (and off) that I could find. I have already had many ideas on how to participate and give of myself to the community when I arrive.

I imagine I see the Burning Man on different structures everywhere I drive. It is a very cool feeling, and I am looking forward to immersing myself in the experience. Please feel free to contact me. Being a virgin, I am looking for a place to start, join a theme camp? Start my own theme camp? Go alone?

Also look on this site for the regional listings because you may find people in your area to hook up with. (at least this was what I was told)
I know "Flipside" is near Austin and I think those are all Burners.

Haven't been to BM yet, but looking forward to 2006 - I'm so there. I live in the desert/AZ and couldn't imagine taking a week off to party in same -well ok I could - that's why I haven't. In the past always drawn to the ocean/islands for sailing & fun, but time for a BIG change. Have heard incredible stories about BM.... Now just have to read all this info and try not too get overwhelmed. HELP!! advice???

Well, I had to see it to believe it...Burning Man IS a Force of Nature. I pretty much had the most interesting, amazing time of my life. Seeing an 85-foot flower online is one thing, but being in the desert at sunrise, standing right below the flower while getting misted by IT-it's priceless. This was my first Burn...also it was the first time I've been to a desert. Talk about knocking 2 birds with the same stone. "Hey, Juan, how about a desert trip, where you also get to be at the greatest countercultural event in the country?"
I was also wondering...are there any fellow Dominicans that venture this far from the Caribbean?

This is different from camping in Arizona for the most part. The environmental conditions are somewhat similar, true. But BM is "car camping" at it's finest - it really is like being in a crude city rather than camping (assuming you do it right). One of the challenges for many is creating a comfortable environment that is artful. And many of your neighbors are doing the same and would like nothing better than to have you stop by for a visit. You can spend ever minute exploring, and not see everything. Then there are Mutant Vehicles....which are like a parade that has escaped it's route. By the end of the week the energy reaches a crescendo that is unlike anything else I have seen. I'm not knocking camping in Arizona, I enjoy it when I go, but BRC is a once-a-week each year city that burns with energy (literally and figuratively). The smell of all the petrochemicals burning are unlike Arizona if nothing else.

But then, BM is not for everyone...

Me and a group of friends are planning on attending burning man in our gap years before uni in 07 and hoped to gain an insight into the ways of Black rock and the people first virtually for the moment. My name is Michelle and my first and only burn was in 2000. And for every summer since, my heart breaks a little around the end of August. Two summers ago I was feeling bad because again I missed another burn. Then as I was walking, I looked down and found a BM sticker just at my feet. It was the omen that I need - Burning Man is part of me. :wink:

One of the main problems is that the group I went with originally had a falling out and my gf does not get it! I have to find some willing folk to go with but I must sift thru the blanket-asses I know first!

Greetings all!
My name is Lars and I stay in Denmark (Northern Europe). I just turned 21 three weeks ago. I've been looking at a lot of Burning Man-related stuff on the net, and I simply can't wait to make some connections in Europe! At the time being it's a huge project for me to plan a Burning Man trip: there's an approximate distance of perhaps 5000 miles between me and BRD - plus I have no driver's licence (they are a couple of thousand dollars here in DK), and the funds are... well, shrinky. But hear me well, nothing will prevent me from going sure. The thought itself fills me with relief and happiness, and though I'm not sure if I'll be going for 2006, I hope you'll take me in anyway. ;)

Hey don't let the lack of a license deter you from attending! I don't have a license and I live in the freakin' west.

My mom's cousins (2nd cousins maybe) live in Copenhagen, so I have a soft spot for all things and folk Danish.

Well, I'll try as bad as I can for '06 - here in Denmark, semesters at the University commence at the very beginning of September, so when I thought a little harder about it there really was no option: go to Burning Man and give crap to the rest, 'cause there's no way I'm not going.
Actually, I have a bit of a hard time finding any Eropeans that are going to the festival (except for this Irish guy), and I'd sort of hoped for that...
Anyway, what do you mean with being far away from NV when you live in - the west?

I live in Utah, next door to Nevada. The American west tends to sprawl out, with big gaps in between communities and poor public transportation. Driving is a more necessary skill than if you live in a larger city. True, I live in the suburbs of a middlin' size town, but it would be handy if I actually could operate a vehicle now and then. The drive to Burning Man is about 600 miles one-way for us. Takes all night, but my husband is a trucker and handles it quite well.

Well, I guess im just used to the very small scale of own country - it's like a 400 km drive, and congrats!, you've just gone the official length of Denmark. But I can sure see what you mean - 600 miles is quite a stretch!

Hey, pix. We've had some discussion on this elsewhere on the board. I don't know a trucker's hitch from a handsaw, and alas, I am not alone. Maybe while you wait in the exodus line, you could check your neighbors' loads and give them tips. Don't forget to remind them to check at every fueling stop.

We've played about 15 gigs in the LA area so far and now we're working with producer Mitch Lerner to create our first album. It will certainly be done in time for Burning Man 2006! We'll be sure to bring a copy just for you. :)

I ran across the Burning Man in some web surfing a few years ago, and recently happened back upon it again. I've always liked to think that if you really like something, let it go. If it comes back it was meant to be. So heres your warning that there is gonna be one more virgin out there in '06, cuz I'm gonna will this to happen.
