The death of Sam Rich

Post by abby » Fri Oct 14, 2005 9:15 am

On September 1st, 2005 I got a knock at the door and it was my father. he sat me down on the couch and told me he needed to talk with me. I said, "whats up Dad?" It was then when my heart got broken like it never has before. He told me that my beloved brother Sam Rich had psassed away. It was so unreal. I didnt know if it was true or not. Unforetunly it was. He died of a massive heart attack. My best friend... My hero was gone. There was no big brother to look up to anymore. Now all we have are memories. His niece Ashlee is always asking about him. We all miss him and he will be in our minds until the end of time. SAMMY WE LOVE YOU AND YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Sorry, Abby.
Is there anything we can do?

It would be a shame if I had to resort to self-deception to preserve my faith in objective reality.

Every time a man dies,
a great library burns to the ground.

Dear Abby: I did not know your brother but I want you to know that many people especially the fire spinning community was sad about his death.

I have never lost a brother so I cannot know your pain but I am sad for your loss and pleased to see you reaching out.

What I do know about death is it takes a long time to feel better and then it kind of comes and goes so be generous with yourself and your feelings, even if other people think you should be better by now.

We must be sure to commemorate Sam Rich. I believe burners who die during the event should be invited to return as honored guests.
