Hello - I am trying to come up with a way that I can build some sort of shade structure to adhere to my bike. I have Lupus and the sun wipes me out on the playa - 06 will be my 4th year and now that I have lost 135 pounds and can get around I want to!!! Any ideas for a simple structure that can be easily taken off for evening travel would be Greatly appreciated...
Much Love to You All...

Um--move it to the tips and tricks section and give it a snappier title. Something shade/bikes in the title. From what I've heard, if you go with a solid piece of cloth, your bike is likely to turn into a sailboat. You might be able to find one of those tourist bike taxi rigs, which already have a roof--ala golf cart. AntiM may know more...

We have a child's shade canopy on our four-wheeled bike. Been reinforced and the cover replaced a couple times, but we've stuck to the basic design. We even have a mister system for it. The canopy does indeed turn into a sail; I've cut crescents into the cover and that helps. Not certain how it would work on a two-wheeler though. Outriggers? Dig through my website and you'll find a picture of the covered bike under Head Trip. Our shade is very removable, just legs stuck into pipes attached to the bike frame and finger screwed in.
Umbrellas and parasols are useless while you're moving. I've always thought those single piece pop-up tents and shade shells for kids would be good bashing fodder for bike shade.
