BRC marching band

Post by jbelson » Tue Oct 07, 2003 5:09 pm

I'm toying with the idea of starting the BRC marching band, compiled completely with people with no instrumental experience. We would hold concerts, and march aroung the playa playing completely improvised, out of tune compositions. Our uniforms would be painted on, and we'd have tall fur hats. Our sound, well some would describe it as unbearable I'm sure.

OOOOHHH! You can perform at "Dangerous Music Camp" Want to join us?
My threads are Dangerous Music Camp, and the more popular "Dangerous Musical Instument Camp" We have mostly had actual musicians interested, but as I AM NOT (my husband who is a semi pro bassist and composer came up with the idea) , your idea for a BRC marching band would be perfect for us, so that not all camp members have to be "Musicans" I have a trumpet i want to turn into a flamethrower!
I took the road less traveled, and now I would like to go back and find the paved one.

I have a mangled sousaphone (tuba), if you could use an "oom-plop" for the BRC Marching Band

the Burning Band has been around for years. they are the marching band for the little black deress parade and weird underwear brigade every year. they know three songs, but you can't tell whichone they're playing anyway. haven't gotten any better, worse if anything. that's why we love em.

BURNING BAND SEEKS PLAYERS

Hello fellow burners!

The Burning Band is looking for marching (well, ambulatory) band
musicians...

A favorite playa fixture for many years, the Burning Band is HQ'ed at
The conGLOMerate village. We raise hell every afternoon on the
Esplanade, and at two incomparable Glom evening gigs - the Weird
Underwear Brigade and the Little Black Dress parade. We also lend
ambiance and elan to your private parties, funerals, weddings, bar
mitzvahs... just ask for us at [email protected] .

The Burning Band continually needs more wind, more brass, more drums,
violins, kazoos, flugelhorns! Were you last chair in your school band?
Have you forgotten what half those little keys and levers were for?
Perfect! If you have an instrument of any kind and wanna bring some
class to the playa, come play with us!!!

Traditionally (always in B-flat), we improvise by ear on crowd-pleasers
such as "Tipperary," "Yes, We Have no Bananas" and "Walk Right In." We
have a tune list for you online. (Your suggestions are always welcome.)
We will lend you a splendid custom-designed uniform. And did we mention
Free Booze for the embouchure?

If you are interested in joining the Burning Band during any or all of
its playa-performances, please contact us now. Our main contact person
is SINdy Costell. You can email her at [email protected].
