He died pushing the limits of art, and life (Boston Globe)

Post by Foultip » Sun Dec 11, 2005 1:57 pm

The Sunday Boston Globe has a front page story on Kevin McCormick an artist from Boston who was well know in our community. Kevin passed away last month but the article focuses more on his life than his tragic death

Some of McCormick's creations were shown in galleries around Boston. Many more loomed over the Nevada desert during the annual weeklong event known as Burning Man, a gathering of art and community-building described on its website as ''an exercise in radical self-sufficiency."

crap.

his led work http://zeeman.mit.edu/fbyte/ledart/ was inspirational to a lot of like minded artists. i remember talking with him when i ran into one of the obelisk installations, dont remember which one though. the whole scanning-your-eyes-accross-it thing to see an image was a major fuck when tripping, complete with tracers that chase you around well after you walk away.

i remember someone telling me he was one of those rare geeks that passed up working for some well named startups to do his own thing.

too bad...this guy was really good. I enjoyed hours dancing infront of one of his creations in 2004. God Bless you Kevin.
