Should the Admins be allowed to delete accounts which are obviously intended as violations of the nature or spirit of ePlaya with regards to foreign and domestic spam posts?

actually, other than the spam/.ru user account issues we're having right now, i have not heard complaints of sock puppets. if there's something we need to know, just send email to eplaya@ or approach one of the moderators about it...

I guess this was a shot at the admin? Not very friendly of ya, but oh well, I guess as volunteers they have to put up with all sorts of crap from people while being in a pretty much helpless situation to do something about certain problems.

Emily sent out an email asking for action, not much of an answer yet.

To clarify things right now, there is pretty much a consensus of the board community to delete these spamming accounts which are automatically generated by someones phpbb code. There is not much feedback yet from the people who can install a mod that may help solve this problem. The board meeting that was scheduled is now sometime after the holliday in January so I personally cant push much on it until then.

Sorry. I wasn`t trying to be mr. snarky with that comment.
It was just a deduction on my part. I realize that volunteers help run this board, and I hope they know I appreciate all they do, yourself included. However, the wheels of change seem to grind rather slowly on the Eplaya as evidenced by a few things I could, but won`t mentioned; and your own words above kinda illustrate my point. It appears that those with the real power to make decisions are not heavily invested time-wise in the running of the board and have not delegated responsibilities to those that are. (now watch me get banned by L.H. himself)
And thanks for being gracious under fire, and suffering my and others spouting Spec & Emily, you have always been kind and fair as you can be, from where I sit in the Eplaya Admins Doghouse.... E. ViLLe

Well, even though I appreciate the sentiment I personally dont want any kind of apology myself - Em's would appreciate it though. BUT, I understand your concerns and I actually share many of them. In an indirect way I am partially to blame because I did not post any info or background on where things stand with getting this handled.

And yes, things move a bit to slow. I am trying to step up and take on some additional responsibility of handling these things but it involves first getting everyone else on the same page and in agreement who is behind the board. Thats not easy at the moment, and another one of the areas that I want to tackle.

If you have ideas I actually would love to hear them, because I want to start getting others more actively involved. But like you said, if you think the comments are not 'appropriate' to make in public then you can always note me. I cant tell right now, but yeah, sometimes certain comments can make things harder to overcome administrative politics in getting started.
