Probably a typo in the link, I'll get on it.

In the mean time, I've confirmed everyone in the db who made a new account. So you guys should be able to log in now.

All the registration issues should be addressed now (I hope).

It was a typo in the confirmation email's link, and I relised I was still spitting back some debugging sql as well! Anyway, I think its all clear now.

Poly, I confirmed you by hand as well as the others.

Expect more content updates soon... ( tonightish )

One thing that might be cool, would be some hand bills or fliers that people could print out. They could briefly describe the project then point people to the web site. This way people could download them and print them out to take to burner-esque parties and gatherings.

Basically yes. For simplicity of assembly on playa I'd love for 50 to 75 groups to sign up for 100 square yards each and arrive with them pre-assembled. However, I'm sure that not everyone can participate on this scale, so I'm expecting to keep an area reserved for individual squares. The material should be cotton sheeting either prepurchased the color assigned or dyed to match.

"Unrecognized UI Page" error for the “Hope” and “Test Pattern” links on main page. All else seems good from my steam powered internet connection.

So Sputnik... When you say 100 square yards preassembled, what exactly do you mean? Like sewn together?

I found that RC has two main pages setup and I only changed one. Should be OK for now.

Yeah. Probably in a 10x10, but it really depends on the image I select. I've been thinking that it's quite possible that we might build something not square, but maybe in landscape or portrait format.

so no guidance on having a hem, or anything, just make it 1 square meter by one square meter.

sorry to seem dense, just making sure i get it right.

Joel, right now I'm not handing out actual color assignments or even directions as to how to do this because that really hasn't been all set in stone. In general a pixel will be a 44 inch square of material (because 44 inches is a standard width of fabric in the US). People who take on more than one pixel will need to attach them together. I'm still debating which way is best. Right now I'm leaning toward strips 1 pixel wide and many long. This will allow them to be easily connected together and then rolled up. I'm starting to think that keeping this rolled up until just before the photo is taken might be useful for keeping it from getting all playa colored.

I registered however I'm going to hold off on making a commitment to bringing pixels a little bit longer. I want to see the size of the pixels fully defined and know more about the method of attachment. Once that's worked out I'll know more of what I can contribute and factor it in to other things going on.

Still the more I read about this the more I like it. And the registration went smoothly too, no glitches to report.

I imagine I'll be working out the details up until it's time to say go. The reason I need people to signup early is so I can figure out just how much real interest there is out there. If by the end of May there isn't enough interest the project may just get shelved. Worst case you'll need to sew together pixels into a square (assuming multiple pixels) or just sew down the edges for one to prevent unravelling. Another option is that this will be done in long strips and so then it would just be sewing one to another.

Sputnik — I keep trying to register but it gives me a lot of backtalk. Some gobbledegook about "insert yadda-yadda" and a bunch of garbage and then my street address.

I registered a few people by hand this morning. Not sure why emails aren't getting sent to some. Diane, what page spit back the goggly-de-gook?

Anyway, 65 pixels have been commited too! Better hurry up, only 9935 left! :D

The only obvious problem in the maillog file is for Sensei. Everything else seems to have gone through OK. I really want to figure this out because it's very important that the emails get through since it's how we'll let people know which pixel colors to bring.

No e-mail yet — the last page spat back the gobbledegook, after I tweaked the registration info to the form's liking.

Do you folks (with the exception of Sensei) have automatic spam filters? If so, can you check them? if not, I'm at a loss since the maillog says that the mail was accepted for delivery. I may have to switch to a mail relaying service.

If you haven't gotten it by now, you won't get it. I'll probably switch to a hosted web service in the next couple of days.
