Pre-Planned Burning Man Trip

Post by Sean » Sun Nov 20, 2005 11:41 pm

http://www.greentortoise.com/burning.man.festival.html does anyone know if this company provides decent service? Even though I really want to drive and see some more of the United States im just mot sure my monte carlo would have room for the gear and water to maintain the lives of three people in the desert (let alone the mechanical capabilities to last in the desert) I wanted to rent from U-Haul but when they found out I was 18 I basically was told that it would be a cold day in hell before they'd rent to me and it would cost an arm and a leg even if I was 25. So I was wondering if anyone on here had used this company and would be willing to tell me about their experience with them.

I've never used Green Tortoise, but I've seen them at the Burns for years, and I've heard no complaints.

They're fairly well-known in the San Francisco Bay Area; be sure you read their Web site to get a feel for what Green Toroise is all about -- it is not a typical bus company.

I have a friend who has travelled with them twice to the playa, even though she lives in San Francisco. She seems to like the service, and I've met several other Europeans who have enjoyed their experience with them as well. I think if I was in your situation I would absolutely use them. Be sure to check out their website and read all the fine print. I believe they have an extra charge for bikes, and there is some work required of you.
