A new performance stage looks for crazy lights and lighter!!

Post by PatternInterrupt » Fri Jan 06, 2006 3:26 am

Howdy all,

We're looking for someone with a lighting setup to provide lighting for a new stage at Black Rock City this year.

The basic vision, still in its infancy:

If the city plan stays relatively the same this year I envision a stage right near the end of one of the "arms" ... maybe around 2:00 & Esplanade. The stage would directly face the Man. It might only be a few feet off the gound, but it would be a decent size... 20-30 feet wide, and there would be a really big PA. :) This might serve as the back wall of the stage:

It could also also be used to haul the PA, lots of building materials, and people from and back to LA.

There would be live music and other perormances at least several hours every day. This will probably change, but right now I imagine theatrical performances (plays, operas) in the early day, bands and solo acts in the evening, and "headlining" bands and artists early in he night.

If you want to be a part of this, what are your assets? What can you offer? Who else among your friends might be interested in something like this?

I'm brainstorming with several people right now about all of this. If this idea starts to look like a reality, I'll start a big open email discussion between everyone involved.

Email me at [email protected] and/or respond here. Talk to you soon!

Love, Dave

Hi, thanks for the info. I don't do that much stage lighting. I do visuals of a psychedelic nature.

Sound/light booth? Sounds great! Others have suggested it in the past, but I've yet to see one that worked well. filtered fans? Devices are necessary to protect projectors and housing them in RV's have worked. I haven't the funds to build a box w/ a/c which seems to be way effective too.

Wht kind of music are you planning? Thanks for the offer. plur, Phoenix

Too far out

I am happy to hear there's be a new, well lit stage. I remember watching the drunken strippers last year, and it was way too dark (which kinda undercut the purpose).

So -- I hope you'll reconsider having it at the far end of one of the arms. That makes it a helluva long way for people toward the other end of the arm to get to.
