Hello all, (Not sure how to use this Discussion Board yet)
My name is Paolo, (Aka: Paul). My partner Zahara and I are BM virgins. I first learned of BM while reading a recent High Times magazine. Then, last week, I saw mention of the BM on an "art" website. After that, I could not get Burning Man out of my thoughts. I mentioned this event to my partner and she was blown away. We were amazed when we recalled some of her dreams from the past few months. Many of these dreams gave details about a strange city in the desert where people are dressed in costumes and the "normal" world seems distant. It all clicked, the signs all pointed to Black Rock. Since we follow our inspiration and listen to the universe with intent ears, I knew that I had to buy tickets and proceeded to do so this week. WE ARE PUMPED!!!

In spite of searching, we have yet to meet anyone in Texas that shares our vibrational level. Perhaps we will meet others of our kind at BM. It our intent is to have a life changing spiritual experience and a hell of a good time at that.

Nice to be on the eplaya BB,....Paolo

Paolo... you’d be interested to know that several folks I’ve talked with were drawn to the event by dreams also. Lots of talk about synchronicity too. Be warned... that playa dust gets in your blood and doesn’t seem to want to come out.

So nice to meet you all. I was at last year's Burn, and in '03. I'll be bringing my posse down with me again. I've been a bit of a pack animal, but plan to take a few solo flights this year. Hope to see you all out there..

Hi?

Post by TumbleCoyote » Sun Feb 05, 2006 5:58 pm

Er, Hiya.

I never have been to BM- though a bit of research has made me curious about the experience, so, depending on how things play out (and how ambitious I get), I -MAY- be trying to check things out this year...

In other words, convince me. ;)

TumbleCoyte Welcome to E-Playa and the main Burning Man web site that has information and pictures of past years.

It is not our place to convince anyone that burning man is for them, If what you see makes it seem like these are your people and your thing you should go if you aren't sure don’t it’s not an easy environment and it’s not set up to entertain those who don’t participate in making it a good experience for everyone.

Hey, thanks Zulegoona.

I think it just boils down to that I need an "excuse" or...something.

LeChatNoir,

Thanks for the information about dreams and synchronicity. I have a feeling that there will be people of all types at BM. But I would also imagine that they all share some common characteristics, I.E. Open mindedness, easy-going, community, tolerance and a fondness for celebrating life. I feel as if the Playa dust is already in my blood.

Thanks
Paolo

Post by lobo04 » Mon Feb 06, 2006 1:03 pm

so I just got word thanks to a blog I wrote that me and my little lady companion will be attending BM for the first time this year....

I have always desired to burn, but never like this year, as I finally choose to lay waste to the pathetic soul I was living trought and reach for my full potential as a human being.... now I have an intense desire to burn my old hulk of an ego in the temple to finally free myself.

O BTW I am an airbrusher and I will be haulin my gear and lottsa boddy paint! my gift to the playa gods and godesses, pretty lines and dots that will glow in the dark and look like tats....

Hello and Welcome:

I honestly hope you find everything you are looking for at Burningman but I would caution you about going with expectations (intent.) My partner and I had a life changing spiritual experience our first time but we left our expections at the door of the default world. That was new for us and we are convinced that is why BM changed our lives.

You won't find something you have lost, you will only find something hidden you have had all along. YMMV. I am excited for you.

Good Evening. Woohoo, got my ticket today. This will be my second year.I wish to thank everyone who has paid full price so that I could get my discount price ticket. I am one of the old geezers you may have seen around last September.I helped the Lamplighters on three nights clean and fire lamps, I was not physically able to be a bearer, but helped as I was able. I feel gratefull to attend. I was at U.C.Davis and Berkeley back in the day. I carried the flag of the ghost platoon on Picnic Day 1970. My ROTC instructors weren't pleased.Didn't mean to ramble...Just wanted to say ' Thank You '

True, True,....I will indeed leave my expectations in the default world. Thank you for the advice. It is a feeling I have deep in the pit of my stomach. I just know this trip will be an incredible experience with lots of opportunity for growth. (big smile across my face)

Hi my name is Chris, I'm 20 years old and live in a little town in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains of NY. I first found out about Burning Man probably through the Home of Poi forums a couple years ago. Poi is my passion btw. It's my most favoritest thing to do, for the most part. I have wanted to go to BM ever since I heard about it but have yet been unable to make it. Well this year my 21st birthday falls on the second day of the festival and that would be the best present I could possibly get. Celebrating my 21st birthday out in the desert with all you guys would be a dream come true. So well looking at the BM tribe I decided to come to the main site and thats how I found these forums. Hopefully I'll be able to make some friends here that might be able to help me catch a ride out West this year, because I don't know anyone who's going thats within 200 miles of me in any direction. Well thats about it.

Hello to all, My name is Timber. This will be my fifth burn but I'm new to Eplaya. I helped start the Kostumkult four years ago and last year started Mischief camp. After working all the kinks out we will be a registered theme camp this year. We'd love for you to visit our emporium of electric shock games ( a better jolt than a triple espresso ! ) and we feel truly honored to host one of the official hope/fear voting booths at our camp this year. We plan to be neighbors with our good friends at Ksvert and thier 60 foot radio tower. We'd also like to invite you to bring you santa suit and join us on weds night from 7 to 10pm for the Santarchy happy hour. At 10pm we will depart en masse and make our way down the esplanade for a night of mischief and mayhem.
hope you can all stop by.

It looks as thought we'll be able to host two teams of 5 for electric shock laser tag so far. Plus the reaction games we have. zzaaaap!

STREET NAMES ????

Post by Paolo » Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:29 am

timber mischief wrote:We were on the corner of 5pm and bipolar. busy electrocuting people.
Ok Timber and anyone else listening,
What's the deal with the street names? I understand that the layout is like a clock so I understand the 5PM thing. However, on the Blackrock City map that I found, it only shows cross streets with planetary names. Where is bipolar or some of these other "sub-streets"?

Thanks

The clock number streets stay the same, the ring roads change names every year with the theme.

There will be no bi-polar this year, don't know what Hope and Fear will generate.

That one is from ‘04... The Vault of Heavens. Then ‘05 was The Psyche so that’s where Bi-polar comes from . We camped along Ego. The signs are up at each intersection to help you can navigate back to your camp.

But... after the Man burns on Saturday, the street signs disappear. No blue glowing Man to guide you home. No signs to help you.

Hey, the name's Eric.

I'm turning eighteen this summer and I'm hoping for 2006 to be the year that I can finally make the treck to the playa.

I live in a small town north of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St. Paul for all you out there not familiar with the term ;) ), and am currently in the midsts of the oh so enjoyable college "phase"; which of course means weighing the pros and cons of each school and eventually having to make that difficult choice about where to actually go. So I'm hoping that the school I eventually pick won't actually start until the second week or so in September, and leaves plently of time for the burn.

I'm hoping to bring a friend (who actually has no idea of what I've been researching, yet), and planning on driving the un-godly distance of 1900 some miles.

I'm not an artist, and I've never been thought of as "overly creative", but somewhere inside me I can feel the untapped resevours waiting to be released. I've always been surrounded with conservative people, and I think that I need that one chance to open up and be who I've always been inside, but never been able to express.

So, here I sit for now, aching with fibre of my being; scouring the boards and websites for any and all information that I can devour and store away about this remarkable gathering.

And with any luck, I'll be standing on the playa in 6 and a half months. :)

You might want to talk to Zulegona and blueniteowl on this board. they hail from your neck of the woods. At least for a time, blue's planning an escape...

I'm Purrversatility, 2005 was my first year and I think it's going to be a long-term relationship.
I'm hoping to reconnect with the camp I was with (Pleasure Kitten Army, of course!) and find new camps to connect with as well. I'm building up to eventually creating a theme camp of my own. I'm already starting to figure out what I'm packing, what I need, etc.. ::laughs::
Anyway, glad to be on here!
