I used to be bullied in school, and because of it I can honestly say that I do not give a crap about what others think of me. I believe it built my character, eventhough I didn't realize it at age 8. Maybe it helped I beat the crap out of my bullies every once in a while. You get in trouble for it, but who cares, you go home feeling like you own the world

I will myself to stop hiccuping. Took me a while to realize it was a sorta-unconscious adjustment to my diaphragm (the muscle, not the birth control device). After 3-4 hiccups, I realize I'm doing it, and I stop it.
[Sidenote: my mom says I once used her diaphragm (the birth control device, not the muscle) as part of a Lego helicopter that I took into school. Not too shabby for a kindergartener.]
I can also forestall sneezes, and you can too: just bite your lip hard. A pain signal overrides a sneeze signal. I've found this to come in handy when hiding in dusty closets from the bad guys.
edited for spelling, twice. to think i was also the first runner-up in the 1984 montgomery county, pa spelling bee...

I, too, share this power. Usually stop it at ONE! Sit up very straight, and take a slow, deep breath without holding it.Davoid wrote:I will myself to stop hiccuping. I can stop hiccups by taking a long deep breath and reciting this tongue twisterin a single breath) :robotland wrote:I, too, share this power. Usually stop it at ONE! Theopolis Thistle
the successful thistle sifter,
in sifting a sieve full of unsifted thistles,
thrust three thousand thistles through the thick of his thumb.
IF Theopolis Thistle the successful thistle sifter
in sifting a sieve full of unsifted thistles
thrust three thousand thistles through the thick of HIS thumb,
see that THOU in sifting a sieve full of unsifted thistles
Thrust NOT three thousand thistles through the thick of THY thumb. Success to the successful thistle sifter.
works every time

3 years of school in broadcast technology and production (mainly television), back in the old days when computerized graphics were a new and exciting development.
Learned how to drive a D-4 Caterpillar at the age of 8, and took my driving test in a car 3 years older than my grandmother.
There's a couple, and I still can't hold a candle to Robbi's thingy. Wow...

Hmm. Well as a freshman in high school I pole-vaulted 14 feet and took some medals also high jumped 6 foot 1 inch. I wrestled varsity and took some medals as a freshman. Played some football also.
Started loven fast women and racing fast motorcycles and fast cars. Just never went back to kids sports. Fast women, Fuel, fire, going 170 mph, things that can kill you. Fun stuff you know.
I have been a bouncer in small bars and security at large events with up to 30,000 people all pack in front of a stage for about 25 years. (30,000 people Peril jam golden gate park SF)
Some people know me as *bone crusher*Tasmanian devil*body guard*or just mike
I just look very big and scary. I would rather help you with the situation and not make it worst by being an ass and end up wrestling with you.

Sorry that had to happen to you.spectabillis wrote:...from that time, like blue, i have a bald spot on my head from being split open by someone with half a brick.
I have a bald spot (big ole scar) on my head from diving head first into a brick planter while playing football in the front yard as a little kid. The docs shaved most of my head and had to make the cut deeper to get out all the little pieces.
That may explain a lot about me!
