My comprehension differed from yours. I was getting a mixed message of "these people are disgusting" along with "it's a shame that they live this way."

Interestingly that is the same response many of the people on here have torwards DontPanic. And undoubtedly it's the same response that Barbara Bush has torwards people who aren't top 1 percenters, ie, most of us. And even better yet, it's probably the same response God/ess/es/s have torwards Barbara Bush.

I think it is more than obvious that there are enough people on this thread that have shown how much DP means to this community.

those who feel the need to heap derision on others are rarely happy. more successful, yes - but not any happier in light of that success.

Maaaannnn.... DP you may *not* get to read this. Because I don't think you would not respond to any of the post on this thread. Your right there with a response *if* your here. But If you do. I like you man. And I am with BC on this. DP you must change direction. Very hard to do. But it can be done.

this board is a meeting ground for minds...those minds have one major common thread...the event...

doesn't have to be anything like the event for it to facilitate further burner interactions (i.e. community)

and the differences lend themselves to expressions of facets of the psyche that may not get revealed in the context of the black rock city...

fascinates me...

hence my presence

Cites?
sure...why not?

i cite me, first and foremost. yet, i see the same in others. i elevate myself above them only when my ego needs a fix. but that's just me.....

i am too simple. i trust those who love me when they tell me that my complaints about life and others are signs of my unhappiness. but i am not so simple as to believe that what i complain about is always the source of my unhappiness.

now that i've complied with your request, would you (or anyone) like to cite examples of truly happy souls who heap derision on those who have done them no harm for their failures, weaknesses, mistakes and/or foibles?

now that i've shared, let the heaping begin...

Once when I was a kid, I had a favorite chicken and I painted one of it's feet pink. It was a stupid kid thing to do with no harm intended. But the next morning I found the bird pecked to death. In a chicken coop, if any bird is different or shows weakness, the others will destroy it. Other animals do the same.

What I learned from that experience is that there's a natural tendency to loath differences and to attack weakness. It's not just a male thing - those were hens in that coop.

Humans have the opportunity to rise above certain animal tendencies. Sometimes they don't. Chickens.

very nice example...

in my perspective, it demonstrates group effort...in this case to maintain a primal standard of homogeneity...

many a time i've heard people express a desire for a purer state of sharing the BM experience with those who 'get it'...

this application of the laws of nature may hold a key...

in practice, it could look like anything....

thanks for the story...
