Oh, OK. Thanks. You're a real asset to the community. Not this one, though. :PDVD Burner wrote:Hopes and Fears? What it was, is, and what it shall be...HughMungus wrote:Could someone summarize the topic of this thread in one sentence? Is there a point somewhere?

If you are telling me this is your attempt to be funny, its not working for you. I think you are just trying to play it off now as something innocent and harmless. Besides the two comments above you make replies to my statements like this......Well ok, Just wish you wouldn't take things so personal.I just could not let that one pass by, especially just comming in from work and seeing this. (from the hip.)
So I am not believing it....I was told not to long ago on this board that “I blame the man” for what happens to me on this board. ( Man did I think that was an Incredibly stupid statement.)

So I take it radical inclusion is dead then?HughMungus wrote:Oh, OK. Thanks. You're a real asset to the community. Not this one, though. :P
I know DVD can rub people the wrong way sometimes but I think that statement was a little bit harsh.

I didnt miss it. But since you have repeated yourself so many times without an answer, why do you think people are going to do it now? *sigh* If people dont want to answer, comment, discuss, argue... you cant make them.HughMungus wrote:GRRR!!! No worries, brother. Some people can take a little criticism, no matter how mis-directed. :PKinetic IV wrote:Actually I didn't see the smilie. I still don't see it in your post but it shows up in SB's. Must be another IE quirk. Why am I still using IE anyway? Hmmm. Anyway.... next post?

This is the 42nd post. I count 11, only 11 posts that could be considered as any kind of topic based discussion.
I am amazed.
Its pathetic how much crap is posted around here without even a semblance to actual content. What many think this board is about is beyond me, because its not very open to anything much more than some sort of playground.

I bet if people knew what your thread was about that more would reply on topic. Just a thought.spectabillis wrote:This is the 42nd post. I count 11, only 11 posts that could be considered as any kind of topic based discussion.

Sorry. Didn't mean to derail your thread.spectabillis wrote:And I am also sure that if people put aside this crap, that there would obviously be more than just a quarter, a fourth!, of the comments that actually say something. No one is saying having fun or banter is wrong, but come on! There has to be some respect given to other users on the board.
So what's the topic? I'm looking forward to participating.

Well, I am not looking for an apology, but I still appreciate it. I honestly dont want to sound like I am comming down on 'ya becaue I am speaking as a member of this community and user of this board like everyone else. Its a problem where people get run off when they have something important they want to post or discuss, and they cant.HughMungus wrote:Sorry. Didn't mean to derail your thread.

What is keeping you from discussing your topic? If I'm talking to a friend at a restaurant and the waitress comes over and interrupts us, we don't throw up our hands and give up on our discussion; we continue as before.
p.s. What is the topic? If I'm as smart as I am and don't know what it is, how do you expect the not-as-smart-as-me people to understand what the topic is? So far only you and one other person seem to know what this thread is about. You're not being very inclusive.
It's what you make it.

I have hope that the BLM will renew BM's permits.Cabanasprings wrote:Can you discuss the topic?
I have fear that they'll add 14 pages of new stipulations to the deal.
And they'll want more money too.
There. Satisfied? I already know the answer....NO. But I tried and that's what counts.

Right. What ABOUT the theme is it about? Dying to know!!!Kinetic IV wrote:It's about the damn theme.
Even in my frazzled state of mind I was able to figure that much out.
Also, if it is about the theme, then it's in the wrong category. Should be 2006 Theme. That might have helped with understanding what it's about. Just sayin'.

... and when she comes back every few seconds... and everytime starts talking about some random shit... and how many times does this go on? and others come over and drag in their stuff and start complaining about things...
I cant see why this is both so difficult to understand and see for yourself despite how I explain it. Read back from the beginning, see how a few got into a discussion, see who and where things degenerated into... this, me, having to go into excrutiating detail on why its a problem. If you still dont understand, or even understand what the topic is you cant force people to explain it to you, which I already told you. If you think its exclusionary, its not, its people wanting to discuss things without having to discuss or justify why.
People have different ways of discussing things and intereacting, if you dont understand that then you need to read over the bar topic first, then read one of the camera vs. critical tits discussions. Two completely different topics, two completely different forms. If you still dont get it, then I suggest lurking until you do, ask a question, and dont persistantly keep asking if no one answers you. Seriously, you will get it, you will understand.

If you create something or express an opinion (art, actions, words, whatever), expect that others might offer an opinion that differs from your own. Be an adult and take the criticism in stride and either use it or throw it in the trash. Don't cry because someone else hurt your feelings.spectabillis wrote:And I guess thats another area where the respect part comes in, not jumping to immediate 'knee jerk' responses from dogmatic beliefs. Its an important function of art to inspire people to look past their boundaries, and the event itself used to give an atmosphere that was supportive of that. Rules... beliefs... values... I dont think people really appreciate that even when these things can be important - its equally important to keep from imposing them too much at burningman.
