Perhaps. The study only involved women, I'll bet if they did a study with men they'd find the ones getting laid are less prone to depression as well.

I can think of some really sick iterations of the original thesis--i.e. Lesbians and Nuns who get raped by guys who use condoms take it harder than those who get raped by guys who don't use condoms. How you would correct for getting a good dna match and putting the f*cker away for good is unknown...

Oregon Red, nice to see you again. Unfortunately,I'm not in Oregon anymore. I'm not sure about your question, but I did read of another interesting story.
As you know, the body is an extraordinarily complex chemical factory.
They did a study where they had volunteer couples who were physical but not screwing. Lots of skin contact, pheromes etc.
The women were calmer and more regular than the control group. There were other benefical affects but I don't recall at the moment.
I'm thinking of renting myself out for cuddling

Thankfully I have some screen wipes close by....especially for stuff like that. And seeing that right after reading a De Villepin interview was too much.can't sit still wrote:I guess this qualifies as useless. Google up "french military victories" and hit "I'm feeling lucky"

I am feeling a tiny bit guilty about that post. Creamsicle just started a new thread looking for other Frenchies. She sounds OK and I don't want to get in her face about what her leaders have done. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be held accountable for what Bush has done.
OK Anna,,,,nothing personal.

the crystal ball is clouded with shit
It would be nice to think that this errata is useless,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but it might turn out to be deadly serious. It's hard to imagine that we can bully the rest of the world forever. I don't see a really great future for the dollar.

Dougly,,,sounds like good advice, but the only thing that I can think of buying is a whole slew of BM tickets.
The truth of the matter is that the fed is going to stop reporting the money supply. You can bet that GB will crank up the presses as fast as they'll run. That slimey fucker of a commander-in-chief wants NO accountability.
Understandably, the rest of the world doesn't trust him. They want out of the dollar. They aren't the only one who wants to avoid getting caught holding the bag. http://www.rense.com/general68/billgatesdumps.htm
The bag is worth less and less every day. The world is pretty tired of the dollar being the reserve currency when the presses run irresponsibly. I wouldn't be surprised if half of OPEC follows suite and trades in Euros.
1/3 of our dollars circulate outside of the country. If the role of the dollar as a reserve currency is reduced, the value of the dollar is going to slip even more. I've been sending money to Colombia. The dollar is loosing value even to the Colombian peso. And they have 20% inflation.
It's lost 22% to the peso in 2 years.
GB is impoverishing the country in very sinister ways. We'll all have to work harder and harder to maintain ourselves. That means more financial pressure on relationships and less time to spend with the family.
I expect BK and foreclosures to really jump by summer. It's not the first time. http://veritas.swiftsite.com/silver.html#Plundering
So far, we've been able to dodge the bullet by working harder and harder. Tech innovations really save us too. But, now we have more competition in all sectors. We don't have much industrial capacity to speak of. What's going to save us? Some of the northern states are hurting badly already. The overall indicators look bad for many sectors.
Metal prices of all types have gone through the roof. China is really mucking up the works and they're not going to go away.
China is mining a lot of precious metals but still buying precious metal ore concentrates all over the world. They know very well the value of paper when it is printed irresponsibly.
At one time Germany printed 1 billion and 5 billion Mark notes. GB will get us there if he can.

It's old news, but a professor at Berkley seems to think that sex drive is related to skin color and sun exposure. He's a Nobel prise winner for his discovery of the double helix form of DNA.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... 111208.DTL
This doesn't prove much, but another researcher found something related to this. He was trying to come up with a "tanning pill" His subjects got both tans and erections. PT 14 also made test mice very horny.
http://biopsychiatry.com/aphrodisiacs/passionpill.html
The follow-up research for PT 141 was supposed to result in pills to make you horny. I'm not sure who would buy them. But,,,,the Irish women claim that the shortest book in the world is 'The Sex Life of an Irishman"

This is probably old to many of you, but interesting to many others. I was going to put it in "Politics, morning, noon and night" but they have such a serious discussion about the upcoming Armagedon that I didn't want to lighten it up.

Dear Red States,
We're ticked off at the way you've treated California, and we've
decided
we're leaving.
We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue
States
with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon,
Washington,
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We
believe
this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the
people of
the new country of New California.
To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.
We get stem cell research and the best beaches.
We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.
We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You
get
Alabama.
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states
pay
their fair share.
Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian
Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of
single
moms.
Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war,
and
we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you
need
people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're
apparently
willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't care if
you
don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home. We do wish
you
success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing
to
spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.
With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent
of the
country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and
lettuce, 92
percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality
wines
(you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90 percent of all cheese,
90
percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal,
all
living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister
schools,
plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.
With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88
percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs),
92
percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90
percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists,
virtually
100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University,
Clemson and the University of Georgia.
We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.
Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was
actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless
we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that
evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11
and
61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher
morals
then we lefties.
By the way, we're taking the good pot, too.
You can have that dirt weed they grow in Mexico.
Sincerely,
Author Unknown in New California

The Last Acceptable Racism
By slave states, are you talking about all the slave states or just the southern ones? This country was founded with white debt slaves and the genocide of the original American people. I think slavery extended border to border in the east. There was a war once caused by underestimating the south. The ussr made the same mistake in afghanistan. The last acceptable racism is targeted at southerners. Just watch any crap from hollywood with a person from the southland. Even Earl which is fairly benign has it. That ain't a San Diego accent he's using.
As for blue states, the democratic party has given away election after election with their position on firearms and their catering to special interests. People won't vote against their own interests.
I own weapons and I know how to use them effectively. I'm fighting for property rights and a living wage here. I'm a yellow dog democrat, but the party doesn't recognise my existence or the millions like me. The nra also doesn't think I exist. They are both losing ground for their stupidity.
When I was in Rhode Island, people were surprised that I knew about linguica and portugeuse bakeries. I told them I was northern by choice and southern by the grace of god.

By the way, evolution is a theory, but I wouldn't say only.
It's a theory just like our understanding of gravity and other things.
Criticising by calling something a theory, is like like catching a district attorney commiting fraud and obstruction of justice in a trial, and calling it a technicality.

Gyre, great post. I travelled around the land of boiled peanuts and sunshine. I'm proud to say that a couple of good ol boys told me that I talked like a northerner but made sense like a southerner.
Slavery has proved to be inefficient because you have to maintain your property when it [he or she] is sick or injured. It's far more efficient to use wage-slaves and shitcan them when their efficiency declines.
I believe that the South has lost ground because of religion.
Fire and brimstone is the "stick" and the hereafter is the "carrot"
But,,what about the here and now.
I've found that the more that people put their faith in god,,,,the less they believe in themselves. This breeds fatalism and half-hearted effort.
I'm not saying that the people in the south are lethargic or unmotivated. I'm not saying that productivity is the most important thing in the world.
It's more a question of direction. I see a lot of people spinning their wheels.
As far as property rights and a living wage,,,good luck. There is a bill before congress to get them to pledge that they won't confiscate. The Fed is going to be broke VERY soon. There are enough people worried that their assests[especially gold and silver] will be confiscated, that they are trying to get a law to prevent it.
The whole point of having no real border control was to abstain from having to pay a living wage. Illegals depress the wage structure.
More than anything else, the fed is afraid of zero pop growth. Japan, Ukraine and Italy are all in the shitter because of this.
The US will do ANYTHING to avoid this situation.
The Dems want the illegals here for their votes. The Rep. want them here for their strong backs and wage -depressing abilities. The catholics want their souls [and tithe]
The Fed wants them here for the pop increase.
It's supply and demand. I went to Home Depot today. There must have been 200 guys in the parking lot looking for casual labor.
Real wages heve declined since 1971. I'd like to think that they might revert but it's not likely.
There are billions of people in the world who work all day to put a little rice and beans on their plate. We can't compete with them.
The NRA is doing a great service for the country. If you followed the crime rates in GB and OZ before and after they gave up their guns,,,you won't have any doubt.

If you think you know the NRA, read a few years of their magazine before you decide. They probably don't recognize your existence either. All the women I know in midtown here are either democrats or much further away from the radical right than that. And they all carry guns because of our crime here. The NRA can't imagine a non-republican with an H&K compact 40 calibre. They express some virulent anti-democracy leanings in my opinion. But when it comes to gun restrictions, my point of view is more hard line than the NRA against them.
There was a meeting of the US and Japanese generals after the war. Japan had invaded the US in a few locations and quickly withdrew. The generals asked why Japan did not establish a beachhead when it was possible. One of the generals said "Japan is very well aware that every other household in the US owns a military weapon ( high power in other words) and that the government encourages their use with organized contests of skill. Japan is not so stupid as to walk into quicksand."
I think the only reason slavery was eventually abolished in the north was that the very rich and powerful realized it was cheaper to be able to lay people off.
And yes, the Christian Taliban is in the south, but I think they are alive and well elsewhere as well. I've met some some stunningly virulent racists from california lately as well.

This is kinda interesting. They have some apparently good figures that show the world silver supply being exhausted in only 4 years.
http://www.gold-eagle.com/gold_digest/butler529.html
Silver is of growing importance in medicine, RFID, superconductors, etc
The US gov had 4 billion ounces on hand. They sold the last of it less than a year ago,,,for less than $6 ou.
Britian sold off 450 tons of gold for <$300> ou.
I wonder what other upheavals will be caused by China's great leap forward.

cant sit still, you touch on a subject near and dear to my heart...
the manipulation of emotional and physical sensations through the use of Ultra Low frequencies.
Throbbing gristle and Genesis -P-Orridge as well as Boyd Rice have experimented with these with all kinds of interesting side effects.
H.A.A.R.P is in a similar vein, but more for opening a hole in the "schubert cavity" in order to transmit electricity half way around the world, tesla style.
approx 425mhz is where things begin to happen, as far as humans are concerned.
The "horny" frequency has been discovered, and with the right reverb, we can make a monkey come again and again at 50 ft. away.
Thursday night....Root Society.....if you wanna see people fuck.
*note
*this post is not the official policy of root society, nor will root society be held responsible if you come in contact with our Aural stimulation and find yourself dry-humping the side of the dome, or worse, as actually witnessed last year. Some schmoe was standing in the doorway, watching the "scene" in the chill room and spanking his wing-wang....when approached by security he was told to stop, and/or put it away, his response was , "Hold on dude, i'm almost finished".
thank god for the quick thinking of our team, and the availability of electric cattle prods in Carson city.

Simon, ULF isn't something that I've looked into. I'm only vaguely aware of the potential of HDTV to broadcast controlling frequencies. Just too many things to keep up on all of it. Do you have nay idea where the "Feriliminal Lycanthropiser" fits in with the ULF scenario?

Non-Lethal Weapons : Terms and References
Infrasound acoustic weapon : 'Very low-frequency sound which can travel long distances and easily penetrate most buildings and vehicles ...biophysical effects : nausea, loss of bowels, disorientation, vomitting, potential internal organ damage or death may occur. Superior to ultrasound.
Psycho-Correction Device : involves influencing subjects visually or aurally with embedded subliminal messages
ps. Dr. Alexander has attended Burning Man in the past, i would say the odds are pretty good he'll be there this year as well.
pictures upon request, stay far away from him.

This is kinda cool but,, confusing. "This states that time slows down as gravitational strength increases, a fact that has been confirmed by GPS satellites. These carry atomic clocks that have to run at a different speed to those on the ground because gravity is greater there"

How does one tell if your local "time" has slowed down? Einstein said that time runs slower in the Oregon Vortex. Many people have made modified Accutron watches and go around the country looking for "slow of fast time". Can a person tell if time is running slow? Strange concept.

I thought all time was relative
While golfing the other day, I really fucked up a T shot and kinda sorta "dropped" my driver after the swing. I noticed on the next hole, that my driver was missing a stainless steel cap on the grip which is part of a counter weight in the shaft. I kinda figgered it fell out where I threw,,,, errrr dropped my club and reminded myself to look when near that T box in a few minutes.
Upon walking onto the green nearest the T box in question, I noticed something glinting in the sun. Since I was closest to the hole, I knew I had a few minutes before it was my turn to putt. So I walked over there,,,, about 200 feet,,,, and sure enough,,,,, that glint in the sun was the piece off my club. How's that for timely awareness and providential sparkles?

OK, Iso, you're never short of opinions. Try this hypothesis an for size [fit]
The claimed age of our current universe is about 13.7 billion years. Our system is claimed to be 4.5 billion years old. [as a system, not an accretion disc] Our galaxy is thought to be one of the original groups formed after the big-bang. Reportedly, the first systems formed about 200 million years after the BB.
http://www.space.com/263-milky-age-narrowed.html
In agreement with currently accepted theory, hundreds of billions of stars and planets have come and gone. It would be safe to say that various species have developed sentience in the period before Terrans appeared. Our galaxy would be a prime suspect for earlier appearances of sentient life.
Terrans have an affinity for stocking fish into lakes that are devoid of fish. What do you believe are the probability that earlier sentients did the same thing on a larger scale?
I have a link somewhere that is VERY good, It talks about the great process of genetic drift and evolution. The article goes on to claim that NOTHING of what we know explains the original appearance of DNA.
