...I remember reading accounts of some of the first telegraph lines strung. At first, they were strung any which way depending on the needs of the person laying the wire at that moment - this resulted in some wires following the "lay of the land" instead of following straight (arbitrary) lines on maps. Some of these wires were known to have excessive noise (chirps, buzzes, etc) that could not be grounded out. Some supposedly could even be used without a battery connected to either end of the line (self powered). This was allegedly due to "earth lines", but I have always wondered if it wasn't really atmospheric/magnetic field interactions with the wire...
Later on, when the big companies regulated the line routes (and they started following lines on map instead of the ground countours), this largely phenomena disappeared...
...and Tesla talked about tapping the vibrational energies of the Earth's magnetic field (like having a tuned spring-mass system setting on a idling engine block, bouncing in time to the engine's vibrations and thus picking up some "free energy") - he always had a ground.
If there is a "sea of invisible energy" that we exist in, it should have a vibrational state (I'm speaking in very loose terms here). If it does, it should be possible to "heterodyne" that vibrating energy, and tap into some power...it would also follow that some kind of antenna or collector would be needed to match the "impedance" of the air-vibrational-energy to the electrical output desired.
Of course, this may all be hooey and there may be more energy potential in a can of warm unopened PBR...

This has been proven true- After consuming a relatively modest portion of playa-temperature PBR I was suddenly suffused with sufficient energy to hop the trash fence and pursue an escaped orange ball downwind for approximately two miles, finally launching myself from my bicycle and subduing the errant orb...It should be noted that The Beverage also bolstered my constitution to the extent that I sustained no damage whatever from my high-speed impact with the playa. Based upon this demonstration, consideration has been given to harnessing WPBR for the propulsion and weapons systems of the Greenkilts Q Division Staff Car.dragonfly Jafe wrote:...Of course, this may all be hooey and there may be more energy potential in a can of warm unopened PBR...

QUANTUM FLUCTUATIONS, ripples that form the basis for energy in a vacuum, pervade the fabric of space and time.

I built a log house in Bend 15 years ago. I left it empty until last spring. I FINALLY moved in. After 6 months my old boss asked me to come back and save his business. I'm back down in LA. Unfortunately, I never saw the coffee roaster. Worse yet, I don't drink coffee.

Well Rabi,,,, we all know that e=mc square. Tom Bearden says that e=mt squared where t is time. I'm learning a lot of interesting stuff about Dirac holes in latices. Some people refer to them as positrons. I can't say, I've never seen one. You really play hell with semantics.
I built my Bedini energiser and it worked perfect. It was charging all the batteries including the one it was running off of. I stopped it after an hour to put an ammeter in line. I restarted it and it ran for 20 sec. and pooped out. It hasn't run since then. Gotta admit, I'm baffled.

Rabbi, for every yin there's a yang. It looks like I have my own personal naysayer.
You've seen the unrelenting improvement in computer chips,,, and many other areas. If you read the Kursweil sp? newsletter, you know that they are making enormous progress in nano technology.
You probably also know that carbon nano tubes are an area of intense study.
They already have super capacitors. http://www.maxwell.com/ultracapacitors/
These caps are formed using vacancies in the lattices of carbon to store excess electrons.
They talk about $150 B market. That's plenty of incentive to develop nano carbon tubes with the requisite lattices to store electrons. With nano construction, they could easily reach the energy densities projected on the sited page.
Right now , they are using capacitors for magnetic welding of different materials eg. aluminum to steel. The utilise discharges of 1,000v at 1800 KILOAMPS.
I see the whole thing as a problem to scale it down. They've been increasing chip density for many years. I see no reason that they can't increase energy storage density.

Rabbi,,,et al , here's a good overview of the radiant energy processes. http://www.schetelig.ee/~creator/public ... U-v5.1.pdf
My project is in the doldrums because I haven't the intuition for circuits.
The more news that I read on the world situation, the more motivation I have to get serious about bringing the project to fruition.

This machine doesn't provide free energy, but it utilises waste heat to produce electricity. It's an elegant design that uses a Stirling for recovery.
http://www.whispergen.com/index.cfm
It's brought to you by the country with the best sailors.
My latest project is building earth batteries, The playa is alkaline not acidic, so it's not a good site for copper/zinc batts. http://www.theverylastpageoftheinternet ... bpage1.htm
I'm going to wind a Stubblefield coil and see if I can find a "hot spot" to get good power. http://www.angelfire.com/ak5/energy21/e ... teries.htm
I found one approach where a guy was burning scrap tires and wood to produce steam. He then used the steam to pressurise an old A.C. compressor that rotated an alternator.
I'll find free energy, no matter how expensive it is.

Spare No Expense, Dammit!
Hey, have no fear, the expense is coming. Our currency has been trashed.
The cost of diesel is conservatively projected to go to $7.00 a gal within 5 years. It actually will go higher because the dollar is losing value so fast.
Diesel or JP4 powers everything mobil. Planes , trains, trucks, tractors and buses. Most ships use diesel, some, bunker oil. If you include heating oil, you're talking about 70 billion gallons a year. Don't quote me.
The Chinese are going to bludgeon the world with their cheap labor and gobble up all the resources they can.
They're mining precious metals as fast as they can. They are also buying up PM ore concentrates all over the world.
We should be in a recession by late summer. If you take into account the Chinese demand and the declining dollar, you're going to see HIGH prices for everything but labor.
All the western countries have seriously inflated their currency. This has driven the price of silver from $7.50 to $11.50 in 5 months
http://www.kitco.com/charts/livesilver.html
Actually, it's more a reflection of the declining value of paper than the price of silver. Historicly, the the price of gold and oil haven't changed much. They just provide a benchmark for inflation.
If you study the history of money, you'll see why the constitution forbids the printing of paper money.
http://www.galmarley.com/FAQs_pages/mon ... y_faqs.htm
The founding fathers knew that someone in power further down the line wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to speed up the presses.
As our currency gets devalued, your savings, investments and salary are worth less and less. We get screwed once again and have to work harder.
The cost of energy is going to become painful, especially in the colder areas of the country. You'll see more old folks freezing to death. I'm sure that it won't happen in Georgetown though.
Spare no expense!!! Well gov has spent 50 billion on hot fusion. I'm sure it's advanced weapons research but it hasn't done a thing for the power situation.
Gov only persues guaranteed dead-ends. That way it looks like they are doing something, but they avoid endangering the oil monopoly.
Status quo.
Americans are disunited on everything except the high cost of energy. Gov continues to lead us down the well lubricated petroleum path with scarcely a glance at alternatives.
We have no leadership except that which sucks us down an ever deepening hole.
It's only radical self-reliance that's going to make a difference on a personal level.
You can buy solar cells from anyone and wind generators from Vesta and batteries from HUP http://www.thesolar.biz/hup_solar_one_batteries.htm
or you can continue to pay incrementally higher rates to the petro and power industry.
Unfortunately, generating your own power in a warm clime doesn't save you much overall. You need to provide electric transportation to realise good economy.

It seems to me that heads explode when people take themselves too seriously. One has to be pretty ignorant to believe that ones own opinion is the only thing that matters. The anonymity of this medium of communication seems to invite rude behavior. I'm rude or polite regardless of the medium.
I couldn't get the link to work for the FE board at tribe. I found a new site that seems very informative. http://peswiki.com/index.php/Congress:T ... gies_--_RD
I think that we'll eventually utilise some of the new technologies but I don't believe that we'll see much of anything that's "free"
