NAME LIST - SOCK PUPPETS

This list is for the known SOCK PUPPETS names - all those spurious and advertising accounts. To report those who make them, the "weavers" , go to the NAME LIST - SOCK MASTERS thread in this area.

To keep it short and neat - one line only, such as the ID line from the profile, e.g.

Viewing profile :: Äèçåëü ãåíåðàòîð

Also try to remember to kill your sig lines. If more pop up, use the "Edit" button to add on to the ones you just posted. Happy Hunting!

Thanks, I know, but it depends on getting the committment of the right resource and with all the shit flinging around, animosity, and people wanting to shout above the rest in saying what to do - people are not exactly stepping foreward to volunteer.

Cant say I blame them much.

So when was our admin going to apply the patches? When is register_globals going to be disabled? Why are guest accounts trying to post messages? Why can't we turn off the use of html in posts to get around the problems? What is the excuse this week?

I guess it's going to take the board being brought to it's knees before anyone acts. And with the exponential growth of the script kiddies exploiting this board's holes it shouldn't be much longer. And I'm glad I'm not footing the bill for the eplaya's ever increasing bandwidth consumption as a result of the exploits.

So where are those patches that was promised?
I know, you speak up and people say you're whining but damn, this keeps going and going. Hop on here at 1 am and you'll see 20 guests exploiting the flaws for all it's worth. New accounts get created right and left....

On second thought forget I said anything...it won't do any good, nobody cares anyway.

yes, yes chipping away... so far the user database is down by 5,000 names or so!

between spanky and i we've deleted users with zero posts that have
- email addresses with .ru
- *sex* in their emails
- a last visited date of 12/31/1969 that had a joined date of prior to 08/2005.

OK - Try this - go to Memberlist (Waaayyy up on top)- sort by "joined Date" descending. Note most of the socks are now from "NY", tho there are still some pseudo-cyrillic posters there, too (one I think may be a sockmaster). Anyone with account delete capacity want to start tackling this mess?

yes, getting the multi-delete tool was a good first step, but we knew it wasn't going to solve the problem. we also sent the visual-verify mods to spanky and hopefully he'll get those installed sometime soon though. at least i can mass delete them every couple of days now though. thanks for the hard work you guys!

Any chance we could get a copy of that list? I'm just curious to see where the spam bot problem ranks. I'm guessing somwhere below "clean out the rain gutters" and somewhere above "reorganize underwear drawer".
