Knitted Hats
So i've had a hankering to knit some hats and bring them to the playa. I would love to offer them to anyone who wants to incorporate them into their art or art cars or whatever

If I ask nicely, would you be so kind as to knit me a cunning hat?

Cabana--my sister gave her daughter "STich and Bitch" for xmas and apparently my niecelet is eating it up. I was taught by said sister, so don't know about books per se. (I also have the german knitting habit, which makes things complicated.) I've also seen kits and joann's and michael's type stores, two ball, needles and a book. If you can bear the marketplace long enough to ask someone at the store how they work....
On the other hand, I have this lovely vision of an on-playa knitting circle. Perhaps around a model guilletien.

I like "Stitch & Bitch" as far as beginning knitting books go it was very helpful to me.
One of the best resources I've founf is http://www.knittinghelp.com. Really clear, simple, fantastic videos of just about every knitting stitch you'll ever need. I find it hard sometimes to figure out how to do stitches from just a written descriptin in a book, so this site has saved my ass a few times now.

I like the continental style (well it's the only one I've learned) because of its economy of movement/elegance. However, I have a hypothesis that because of the twisting involved it's potentially harder on your wrist. If you have carpel tunnel issues, English. It's also the more common in the states if you want to be a knitting conformist. I was able to convert at least one person to continental from english.
