another whiskey almost never hurts, almost.

I think I'll have a Lagavulin.

Now some good music to go with it . .. .

It's 32C here. Not sure what that is in Fahrenhiet. Warm days, cool nights. Best time of year.

It's sure quiet in here. I'll put on some coffee for anyone else that comes in.

If there are any weather junkies in the house who follow tornadoes today is your day...the midwest in particular Missouri is looking at a major severe weather outbreak.

I kinda wish I had an Apokiliptikan bunker over here for days like this.

coffee ....mmmm thanks KIV

My "new" espresso machine is a little stodgy getting started this morning....got it surplus from some power company...part of the PGE/Enron scam-a-minute sell part of yourself to yourself.

Seems maintenance was an issue....What does "scram a reactor" mean anyway....

Got the rods pulled back out... getting kinda funny glow in the sky from it tho....

 but this machine gonna be a blast.....makes killer espresso

YAAARGH.. mmy brain is not working!!! Please, please... shear me off a cup of that thick stuff, EspressoDude.

Hey, KIV!! That coffee maker reminds me of the turbine powered cryogenic beer cooler that used to be around before the Bar was blown up several dozen times.

What good is coffee without big, beautiful strawberries dipped in rich dark chocolate?
Somebody said the it couldn't be done, But he with a chuckle replied that maybe it couldn't but he wouldn't say so until he had tried.

If you talk to the Camp Herring folks they have the HTTT Time transporter that would let you go back and retrieve it from the old bar. It's just a thought.

I think it was last used in this old Ukranian coffee shop. Careful though, that old espresso machine's kinda tempermental. Look at the mess it made of the last place. Even better, why don't we ditch the old one altogether? Hell, I'll even pitch in on the cost of a new one.

damn nice machine M.B. gonna have to lay some cable for that, maybe catch up on some free energy somewhere.

Those beans look kinda light there R.E. may need some roasting out on the playa. or maybe we just fire up the ol woodstove in the corner and fry up a few then test em out.

Now I know why that machine was cheep...freight was a bitch tho

BTW we gonna need a few more baristas to run that beauty M.B. That has 3 groups and a lot of cups on top waiting.

I think I'll pop down to the basement and fire up my old one and brew a couple shots while that shiny thing gets wired in.

Lemme know when the sparkies finish their Jagermeisters and are ready to start on the 480volt power service.

zzzZZZZAAAAPPPP oh well now we need some more wire and an ambulance

I love being in the midwest. I have free ice outside to dump in the cooler for cooling beer. Ok it's golfball sized hail but still...it's free!

Pulse doin OK.....somewhat Blinded by the Light. those sparkies(electricians) were hanging around the bar wearing Carhardts, but thay had an accent and could read the old operating manual......never did ask them for their union card though...

What the heck free fireworks.

Maybe we can put some insulators on the barbwire fence that follows that high voltage powerline and tap into that??

Thanks! Yep, good to be here. I just got back from a walk on the Walnut St. pedestrian bridge - it's the one in the middle of the picture below. Grabbed a cuppa Joe on the walkabout at a little coffee shop just off of the left center of the picture, next to the white blob-like building (an art museum) on the bluff above the river.

Unfortunately though, the place I just back to - is my office. Me and my big mouth - I just had to tell a client on Friday - "How about if I give you a draft of the project report on Monday?" I first told him two weeks ago - "I'll have it to you next week." Guess what I'm just now starting to write?

Oh well, it pays the bills...see you guys later.

A couple of km further north than that (now where did I put that GPS). You've been here then?

And the best beans I've found are from East Timor. Bit of a trek first thing in the morning though.

Rob:

I've been to Sydney & Melbourne, not Canberra.

When I saw those coords, especially the East, I had to look at a map, then typed them in to Google Earth and there we are just east of the hexagon.

Long flight/journey from there to Black Rock City, but then all of life is a journey, and some of it on airplanes or transporter beams.

The states of Kansas and especially Missouri got walloped by severe thunderstorms and tornadoes today. There are fatalities, people missing, and damages will be extensive.

While it pales in comparison to Katrina we haven't seen this kind of outbreak in many years. If you have kind thoughts, prayers, good karma to spare, offer it in this direction. Many people need it now.

I'm waiting until daylight to see how bad it is...but early today I've seen 3 funnel clouds, golf ball and baseball sized hail....and taken shelter no less than 4 times. It's been a day I hope I never want to see anything like again. And I'm lucky, I still have a roof over my head. I have friends who don't.

Blue walks behind the bar and grabs a couple of brown ales, pours one in a glass and sets the other in front of an empty stool at the bar.
