This guy joined yesterday, and as of my post (10:30 am), he's posted 1373 two word posts - "Hey Guys", on the oldest threads

Some jerk. We need moderators.

We have moderators, the moderators know about the problem. Unfortunately, Spanky, in his infinite wisdom has failed (after much asking) to provide moderators with the permissions to do anything about it.

My self and the other mods only have the ability to delete posts in one area, and I'm currently doing that as we "speak".

My suggestion would be to email spanky and ask him to

1. Give across the board permissions to all moderators including allowing them to disable user accounts in such circumstances.

2. Install a visual verification mod to stop spam bots (though in this case, it wouldn't have worked, it will help prevent the .ru guys and others).

3. Limit post counts to 40 or 100 posts per day (40 is more than enough I feel).

Wish you had the power now at least a hold power until facts can be sorted out and the situation is discussed among moderators

The visual verification is very easy to implement should of been done already but I thought I read on a thread it was being done?

The limit of 100 seems ok would have to check the thematic art post's to see if it would affect the fun bombardment's over there!

When (1) I saw the bot attach underway and (2) got an email from eplaya to my comcast address - even though I had my preferences set to "don't send me ANY emails" I freaked out. I then fucked up and changed my email address in my profile (to a random address that I made up on the spur of the moment), which inactivated my account. Now I can't reactivate my old RingO'Fire persona. Fuck!

As this guy is proving, limiting post counts is a waste of time. Anyone who wants to do this type of attack will simply create multiple accounts.

What might be an idea is to make a second window when you try to post in a thread older then 2 months or so.

Click 'Reply' -> Type post -> Press Sent -> 'This topic is more than 2 months old, are you sure you want to bring it back up?' Yes / No

That would make it harder for the scripts, I think. It would also attend people that they are about to kick an old topic.

edit:
Or maybe throw in a script like this: the server generates a random amount of letters into a picture that you have to type into a text box. Scripts can't pick it and it would totaly prevent total havoc like this. Only if you try to kick an old topic ofcourse.
