(still thinking about the banner thought) TITWI, I wonder if we should fly a flag over the camp, as well. Something so when we get in the vicinity, it harbours us in. (NOTE TO SELF: Too many ideas...must go post in Tribe)
Word. Actually, I'm out for the night and am going to do just that (stop in Tribe before my ideas leave me) Goodnight all! :D

Try a 1554, Blue. Local Colorado stuff.

Phil Benstein, our resident rumpled professor, stumbled onto Zwartbier in an 1888 tome creatively named “Popular Beverages of Various Countries.” He had trouble convincing brewmaster Peter Bouckaert that such a beer existed back in 16th - century Belgium, so the pair made two trips to Belgium to research this obscure style in the archives of Belgium’s specialty brewers. The oldest reference to these black beers that our dynamic duo uncovered was in the year 1554.

Other than being dark in color, 1554 has little in common with Porters or Stouts. The beer is fermented at relatively high temperatures using a European lager yeast that imparts a refreshing, zesty acidity. Chocolate and coffee tones in the nose give way to a surprisingly clean finish. With 1554 our staff hoped to create a beer similar to what folks enjoyed nearly five-hundred years ago without ignoring five-hundred years of technological innovation. We hope you’ll agree that 1554 is the delicious result of a lot of well-spent library time.

Why sure! There was an ale I had in London that was kind of marginal but had a great name. Got any Olde Speckled Hen?

Cc, how about flags for all!

Whoa, the graphic is so cool. i would be willing to put it to flags, (permission granted, masters of the coolest thread  )
Not only a banner at the bar, but not everyone will be at camp, but could hoist the "flag" and be part o the camp! Had the same experience at "Blues-Fest"..... unless it's not a good protocol thing......

I'm gonna party like it's 1554!
Sorry. Lame Minnesotan indulgence.

Wow DD, checking out the Balik stuff.

Brewer's Description of this Beer:
This special beer has been brewed in the year 2000 according to an old Russian porter recipe with brown malt, Russian kwas, hops and water from BALIK's own source at Ebersol. It then matured during one year in old oak butts and received individual care up to its maturity. Its has been brewed and bottled in limited quantities at the brewery Locher at Appenzell. This very demanding procedure gives the BALIK BEER its noble and characteristic sherry taste and its amber colouring. But this sparkling BALIK BEER may reserve you some surprise. With 11 %vol. of alcohol, it compares much more with a wine than with traditional beer. We recommend to drink BALIK BEER cool, at a temperature of 12° C. BALIK BEER should be stored in a dark place. When stored, the quality of the beer will improve yearly and its taste will become more and more harmonious.
