One of those silver backed tarps to put over the tent-if you can get a gap in between it'll greatly increase the cooling effect, it also allows you to sleep in later as it doesn't get light nearly so fast.

We had a silver tarp over the 24' Junto Dome last year. Then over that we pulled an artic camo net. It was very comfy at all times... cool in the day and held heat at night.

mozy puts out a drink for PlayaPetal.

French Martini
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/4 oz Chambord® raspberry liqueur
1/4 oz fresh pineapple juice
1 twist lemon peel

Pour each of the above into a tall bar glass. Shake with ice, pour into a cocktail or martini glass, and serve.

Well, I bought a bunch of that cheap mylar white camo netting with the holes in it. Then I had some poles from a screen tent to use as supports. I left the rebar for my tent long, slipped the screen tent poles over the rebar. I had three poles that went across the top of my tent to add air space between my tent and shade. Once I got the basic "frame" up, I pulled the tarps over and secured it all with zip ties.

I could probably explain it better over the phone if you want to talk about it. I don't think I have any pics of it though. Unless Z took one, I can't remember if he took one of me in front of my tent or not.

LeChat, that dome rocked! I'm jealous, but I also like my easy to put together little camp so I'm only a little jealous.

And Mozy... For goggles, look at these. Check with a local welding supply shop. You can get them from clear up to a shade 5

I've used both of these on playa and like the results... +/- $12 each. clear for the night, shade 3 for the day:

I took one with a disposable camera , the cameras around here somewhere but I think you are still the only picture on it.

yeah... it's not a one person job to get it up, that's for sure. But worth the effort if you have the hands to help.

I remember faces better. Madison isn't that far from here. neat little town right on the Ohio river. probably an hour or so from here... maybe a little more.

And Mozy... the biggest thing to help with keeping cool is an overtarp type of setup as blue described... leaving an air gap between the tent and the tarp that shades it.

And yeah... very cool tent. I like the center space. That’s similar to how we are setting up the dome this year. Two rooms off at angles similar to the tent pictured.

I think I'm outta here for the night. I'm just beat...

Have a great day tomorrow, barfolk

It's a nice tent, but remember that the dust trashes almost everything and will eventually eat away at your tent.

Plus, with all those side "bays" that's a lot of rebar to pound. Not what I would want to do with my first couple of days.

Yeah, the dust'll trash your zippers-that reminds me I need to get my tent out and see if I can vaseline the zippers so they'll work one more year.

Mozy do you have an air compressor? I’m wondering if a person could blow out the zippers, nooks and crannies with air.
