The web team thinks this is a terrific idea, too. We've talked about it for a couple of years. Personally I'd loooooooove to have KDPW transmitting across the globe.
But no one has stepped up to set up and maintain it. All the projects we do, we do because someone wants it bad enough to make it happen. I don't know what all is involved in running an Internet station, though I am told that it's pretty easy to do form a technical standpoint.
Does anybody out there have the skills, and want to help?

I think III may be the best person to decide what programs to be broadcast or the order or direction. as in 'program director.
just a suggestion.
my days of being a radio program director are long behind me.
i suggest dusty balls as someone who probably has the talent, and the desire, as well as god's own history with RFBM. i believe he's made a spot appearance or two on the newb-eplaya, so you should be able to get contac t info for him.

not if you have one alreadyalice wrote:ok - how do we get started ? do we need to set up a web-site?
if you have a website that's good. .
you also need a server. aparently you have a server already.
the server is where your website is being hosted from. you also need a router. you have one.
to broadcast or webcast takes a little more than that.
the server can broadcast/webcast but you need to give the server some directions as to what you want it to do.
to do that on a mac. it is best to have OSX or OS 10.
it comes with the software to host with.
to broadcast with OSX you need to go to Apple and download "Darwin" to do it right.
you should ask a mac person for that.
i can do it either way.
or
i perfer windows 2000 server/20003/windows xp pro. it does all platforms, IE: apple, windows,.....quite nicely.
anything else i need to talk to you about because....as you know i speak well but do not write well.

so let's talk during the day. there's band practice tommorow, or thurs. the person you need to talk to about the server is dml - and i should be able to get him over. or you can e-mail him or something i'd have you talk to michael but i'm afraid his head will blow up.[/quote]

my test internetradio/broadcast site is up and stable. i'm ready for remote DJ's and VJ's
It may not look the best yet but it works and it's a work in progress.
any VJ's and DJ's out there that want to give it a shot?
and anyone that wants to help get this thing off the ground, let me know.

PM me I'll figure out what you need.
Alice you too. Wait a minute....I KNOW what you need. <hint>
we'll make it happen. "KNOW MATTER WHAT". (stole that from a friend)
OK?
That goes for everybody.
Don't worry. You know I'll take care of you. I may be a little slow in getting back to you sometimes but I always come through.alice wrote:care to teach me how this works?
btw - the server is on the move (again) from critical path to wherever dml and roland plan to set it up.
back in the day, schreck used to run the server out of our hall closet.
sigh - those were the days.
Yeah, I wanted to talk to you about your server. My client out your way has been bugging me so I may have to get out there soon.
just checked in with schreck - future location still to be determined.
when we get back from the big island, mike will have some time to help roland do the install.
i know you got my six - it was just great having the boy in charge of the server. he's one meticulous motherfucker.
