Okay, so if I'm bringing the big chopper, I'll have two choppers, two tallbikes, and maybe a rickshaw on the playa. Somebody wanted to borrow a bike?

Jewel***, of course we're gonna hang out. And go for rides. And do lots of nothing. And let life on the playa be random.
I'm looking forward to this year more and more. The last few years were just too much work.

Nice to have "met" you, too. Can't help you with RD - We'll just have to deal with him out there, as he is.

DD - I was looking for a loaner bike.. was expecting more of the dumpster/discount variety than a custom jobbie... but if you're offering..?! :)

Oh, I'm sure I won't have a problem with you borrowing a bike sometimes, I'll want to ride all of them at different times so it won't be a weeklong kind of thing, but yeah.

All the little voices in your head.. <grin> I'm actually having a lot of fun mucking around in Photoshop these days, figuring out how to do things (undoubtably the SLOW way, but still fun...)

DD - I won't plan on tying up one of your beautiful bikes.. If things work out that I DO wind up bussing from Van, I might see if someone was willing to haul a bike in and out for me, and I could use PayPal to send them funds for the purchase in the first place (hooray for cheap secondhand bike stores!) :) VCamp just got a new girl from Seattle joining up, dunno how she's planning to travel, but I can also borrow a bike from my friends down there..

It will all work out :) Time to go pop a pic of my finished dreads up on my blog.. brb

Good night, you all. Sorry not to be so sociable. Catch you tomorrow . . . unless you run too fast for me.

Xta- I'm actually figuring that one of my tallbikes will get run off with almost immediately(my friend Bear) and I probably won't see it all week. My choppers are definitely more valuable- I have about $25 in thrift bikes into one tallbike, the other tallbike all of the donors were free, and I have about $1000 (maybe more) into the two choppers. Just do this-bring a lock, so I won't have to worry when I do loan it out.

Cool, I can do that... is a cheap U-lock okay for the playa?

Around town, I do the cheap lock plus a combo cable lock through the back wheel... not enough to actually prevent theft but applies the concept that having to have to deal with two types of locks is enough of a deterrent that a thief will steal someone else's bike first..

Hey, if I can figure out how to ride a tall bike, think I could hang some hoops off the handles safely? :) I could be a roving hoop class...

Oh, the riding of a tallbike is really no different than riding a regular bike (with some exceptions). The main thing is getting on. Getting off is easy, just fall.

"just fall". come to a complete stop, and let the bike fall sideways with leg extended. Y'know, bike falls to right, right foot on pedal, left leg extended behind, something like that. It's a helluva lot easier to do than to describe.
