Divination Station - wanna help?

Post by MamaMoonfire » Wed Apr 05, 2006 9:12 am

I am doing a large art installation at Burning Man this year.
It has an interactive multimedia interface, allowing participants to vote:
Hope, Fear or Action.

I'd like music and graphics from people trying to get their art out there to go with each catagory. I myself just finished recording a 5 minute piece which goes with a 4th button - Inaction. As well as doing most of the Tarot artwork myself.

I'm putting out the call to you all, for submissions.
Anything you've done - no matter the genre - which you think relates to the Theme. We will be making a book of references, handing out any CD's or postcards donated to get you some marketing, and if you've got some cool band or self-portrait pics which fit these themes - we'll add them into the graphics montage they will see with each vote.

We'd like to have all artistic submissions in by May 15th, 2006, so that we can have the first dry run of the system as of June 1st.
(Gives plenty of time to work on any bugs in the system.)

We are waiting to see if the votes from DS will be able to hook up with the system for the Man still...we'll be on playa no matter what though.

If you'd like to help run the show and possibly even Emcee one night - let me know. I know that it's impossible to say if you will absolutely be able to do something once on Playa - but offers are always nice. :D

I am running a dance performance this year and am looking for a spot to have it. How large is the installation? could we be inside of it? with an audience? Drop me some details when you get a chance thanks!

Depends on the size of your performance.

DS will be inside a 16' - 24' 2-frequency dome - we might have room. I believe the dome is also going to be used during the day by the DC Guerilla Poetry Insurgency group for spoken word performances.

Then again, you could look at the installation also from Colorado - Facing Our Fears. It's a huge sculpture made of hundreds of faces, there will be room on top and inside of it. I believe Sondra said it's on the page of the 22% of the Art Projects who received grants this year.
