White trash event?
Dogs cooked by battery power. (We all know how to do that, right?) Day-old apple pie flambe? Grits and beans, RC cola and Moon Pie? Potato salad? Hushpuppies? The "Depends Trial" (who can get the thing to leak?)
Is this a go?

Don't be talking about goats, you'll get Isodope coming in here to check it out.
(Perhaps that's the real reason for the move to TN!)

there might be people that do live like that. but they also have the opportunity to do much better, yes i have been in a situation similar to this when living with my real mother. but i fought my way out of it.nogganoodle wrote:That's just TOO funny! It's brightened up what would otherwise have been a crap day at work!I just don't know what to say about this...........
I know it's a stupid question. but do people like that really exist?
thank god for the powers that look out for us and guide us through this wild ride to find out that there is life afterwards.

I didn't mean any offence by what I said, it's hard to communicate properly and get the feeling of someones sense of humour when you aren't face to face with themyes i have been in a situation similar to this when living with my real mother. but i fought my way out of it.

Hey, I have quasi-relatives who live in a trailer park in Virginia. They're from West Virgina, the trailer is a move up from the Civil War era house with no indoor plumbing and not enough plot for a septic field.
I find it funny, but I bet it is too close to some of the truth for that chunk of my family to find amusing.

I'm sure we all have skeletons in the family closet that we all find cut a little too close to the bone! Over here in good old blighty we call trailer trash "Chavs", they live on council estates, like to hunt in packs and are generally a bloody nuisance! There's a little bit of trivia for you

no offense tooken here, it was a positive statement. i just wonder how and why some people stay in that situation.nogganoodle wrote:I didn't mean any offence by what I said, it's hard to communicate properly and get the feeling of someones sense of humour when you aren't face to face with themyes i have been in a situation similar to this when living with my real mother. but i fought my way out of it.

The easy answer? Learned helplessness, the inability to see there are other ways and means to better ends. Lack of opportunity and resources in my family's case, they simply haven't got the education or money to move somewhere better, and they have the best possible jobs they can find in their area. Then again, they see absolutely nothing wrong with their life, other than it is hard. Hey, they have shelter and running water and food, for some people that's luxury.i just wonder how and why some people stay in that situation.
(They're ex-in-law relatives, but they like me and larry better than their nephew, my ex, so they're still in touch after 20 years!)
sometimes i guess we take what we have in life for granite. yes, we should be thankful for what we have and whom we have in our life. i have a special love and i thank her everyday.AntiM wrote:Then again, they see absolutely nothing wrong with their life, other than it is hard.
