The Bar
one of my favorite moments at bm, was when i was walking in the playa and came upon this fairly large dome. went in and low and behold there was a tea bar inside. sat down on a pillow, had a cup of tea and the guy next to me said......."would you like me to draw a tattoo on you?" of course i said yes! and told him i wanted something large on my back going down my arm. it was incredible (check my tribe pictures and you'll see it----i'm sitting at the deep end after the burn). I had so many compliments on the design it was awesome. came back to the default world with it still intact and went to my kids school wearing a tank top. um, yes, I got a lot of strange looks.

2001 at the Gate. The looks I got as I rolled in with all that stuff on my bike. You know you've done something when you stun a burner.
2003 at Recycle. Cranking up the crusher for the first time.
Last year at 5:30 in the morning of Burnday(Sat) after tearing out the Man Base, hanging out with the crew behind caution tape and some guy wanders up obviously wasted (ecstasy?) and starts throwing off his clothes and jumping around-I said "oh look he's doing the chicken milk dance" , Que? says "what's that?" I'm like "Oh, he's just had too much chicken milk" We all fell out laughing.

Pulling into camp in a blinding dust storm after 1or 2 in the morning after a really hard trip and meeting my Kampmates in person for the first time was cool. seeing sput working on the wind mills, was cool the incidental meetings , seeing Unjohnharly riding his trike with I the classic I only have eyes for you playing on a boom box. the raid on the international burner hostel and our theft of the peace keepers mutant vehicle, the meet and greet, parading Mini-man out to the man, the burns , the temple burn was particularly moving because nipples aches were in it. god every thing
thanks Sput, I like the story too.
How about when I was checking out some of the cool art on the playa with these great people from No Carolina one night (or was it like 2 in the morning) and we came upon this ladder going straight up in the air. At the top there was like a turn-around area for like 3 people to check out the view. I stopped and said to my group (one of whom was in a wheelchair), I need to climb this ladder. So I started climbing and when I was about 3/4 of the way up, I panicked. (don't tell anyone, but we had done that 420 thing and I think that had something to do with it). I had to climb down and was totally embarassed, but I just did not want to fall and end up in a wheelchair myself.

Was anyone out on the playa when that Mad Max group came to Free Dicky in the box. I had just spoken to Dicky and was on my way back (on foot mind you, no bike) when a convoy of cool cars and people hanging off the cars came rolling in towards his box. I just needed to see what was going on and turned around to walk back. There had to be a hundred people there banging on all sides of the box screaming, "Free Dicky, free Dicky" It was insane. One of the walls started to fall down, so they stopped and boxed him back in.

I think that's cool too Zule. But it's cooler that i'm gonna meet you freeky people in a couple of months. wow, it's also kind of bizarre. but, bm is totally bizarre. The whole time i was there i asked myself how i was going to explain this to people. they already thought i was crazy to be doing this and my stories were only going to confirm that to them. i had a great idea for a coffee table book though...........while i was there i must have asked 50 people how they described bm to people when they got home. each answer was different. wouldn't it be cool to take a picture of a person and have their answer below it.
