Here's one of my favorite memories of BM past: In 2002 (my first year), went out to the fenceline to Crazy Larry's Nightclub (huge yellow rubber duck structure with fully enclosed bar). The vibe out there at night was great: 40's style singing, dancing, piano playing, real swanky, and there was this one girl who sang beautifully. I returned a couple nights in a row because of how good it was to talk and have a drink. Well, turns out were we were camped (about 2 streets back and 3:30) was The Yellow Duck camp (members of the nightclub), and low and behold, the singer's tent was kitty corner about 4 feet from mine! We chatted, and I made her some tea for her sore throat. But now, here's the pop that made my week out there. Late one night I stayed there until the sun came up just dancing, and totally sober (minus a grip of coffee) and helped them pack their card and gambling tables inside the club to lock-up. The bartender flipped me a black chip (the chips had different denominations, yellow got you a drink, blue got 2 chips, etc.) I asked what the value of the black chip was, and the tender said it was speacial, and couldn't be taken away once used but had to be re-gifted again. The next night, I found out the chip was do whatever you wanted, like V.I.P. I got whatever drinks, and also went up on stage to sing with my neighbor singer person. Also, got to go up on the balcony of the duck and look down into the crowd dancing. Talk about feeling good...a daydream :D

Not yet, TITWI, it's coming up on May 12th, 2006. It's the only time I won't have an interview with a band for the last 4 months, and won't again for the next four months. I'm excited and have been praticing to the sound of the automation, should be good fun :)

Indeed Rock. It's a fun thing to be a human being these days...if your a good person, then thorhetically, good things will happen (not always the case, but probably 95%). I truly believe the idea (not referrence to religion, but humanity) to do unto others as you'd have done unto you. Word 8)

I think it is more than just humanity Karma seems to be a very real force that I seem to see in action a lot especially in this community!

Oh, Cc, you're killing me. I missed last year.... Stupid..Stupid... Stupid....

Check this out.... I grew up thinking you had to be conservative, go to work every day, grow the money tree, climb the corp. ladder,... etc....

When BM first started showing up, and I saw the peeps coming thru town, I though, wow, what a bunch of wacko's.

Then, the year before I went, I happened to also be camping close to the playa, and saw the city grow out of the desert. Thought to myself, I got to go find out what THIS is all about.....

Next year went on my own, just with my pickup and camping supplies..... My wife <at the time, thought I was nuts>....... And the rest is history.....

WELCOME.....HOME!!.......

mmmmm.....Can't wait to meet you all.........

The first time I went/found out about BM was through a friend who owned a frame shop in our town. He just told me about it in a nice tone of voice, and some of the wild stuff like how he walked through a giant maze with one person dressed as a clown and some other stranger who was snorting coke off his hand. I couldn't imagine this craziness. When I went, something broke inside of me in a good way. My arts sprectrum just flooded, and I knew then that this, this is what feeling free (free to socialize, explore, dream large) was all about. I've never turned back. The trick I try to remember when talking to interested new people when they inquire about the event is to s t a y c a l m. Talk in a normal volume voice and be nuetral (don't want to freak them out with me waving my arms and going off on a tangent about getting body painted and riding on a car that looks like an 1800's Schooner) :)

Goodnight TITWI. Also a pre goodnight to DD (hey Duck!:D ) and a post goodnight to Bin (stay fresh main :) )

Love it. Become it. Seek it. Use it. Know it. Make friendly getures to it. Trust in it. Search it. Become familiar with it. Breathe it. Eat & Sleep it. Finally, the it is what you make it, so, allow it to do what it does.

Not as much as a poetry thing as it is about a "fill in the blank thing". My it is passion (for creativity, self, others, conviction, etc). Goodnight :D !

I have nothing at all against Mayday, one of my favorite lovely holidays!

Nope, I was maggiemayday (all one word) from the days when I was writing to "George Hayduke" who authored the series of Revenge books. I think I'm in Hardcore Hayduke but would have to look it up, the editing sucks so I don't mention it much. It was originally Maggie Mayhem, I can't recall why it drifted over to mayday! mayday! I dropped it because everyone started calling me Maggie, which I dislike. I just never changed my email addy.

Anti M is my nephew's phonetic spelling of Auntie Em, short for Aunt Margaret. Anti M is just easier and a better fit these days.

Whew! Too much talkin' makes a woman thirsty.

I'm a BIG fan of the Hayduke books!!!!!!! I have two of them but never did run across the third. I'll run to the bookshelf tonight to look up your particular flavor of mayhem.

Yep, Hardcore Hayduke. There's about six or seven books at least. A shame I lost our original correspondence, he was a very intelligent letter-writer. He had plans for later books, and had accpted far better writing from me than was published, but I never saw more in the series. Some of them were darn good tales of misdeeds and mayhem too. I don't know if he died, went to jail, or moved out of the counry.

My sons keep stealing my copies - which is ok, I guess they are required reading for teenage males - along with a book I bought for them last summer called Backyard Ballistics. (Great potato cannon plans).
