Hey is anything going on in Seattle May 17th-21st?? I'm there for a conference and have never been to the area. What kind of fabulous things are there to do? I mean, the schedule is 8-5 every day, that leaves 15 hours of who the hell knows??!!!

The troll is cool, the duck is a touristy thing. I lived in Sea-town for 20 years, there's plenty to do. Check out Shorty's pinball Tavern in Belltown on 2nd, and the 5Point Cafe at 5th and Denny. Crocodile Cafe has some good shows-Rock & Roll, Pioneer Square does a joint cover thing on weekends-10 clubs for one price. What kind of music do you like?
Here's a link to my favorite college radio in Seattle. You can listen live, and they do a concert calendar so you'll know about upcoming shows before you even get there. Should be a calendar on the site, too.

The reason I didn't mention the Pike Place Market (moms had a store there for 20 yrs) is Gingher said her daily schedule was 8-5. The Market shuts down at 5-6 pm.mdmf007 wrote:you missed the tug races yesterday and the regatta at the cut. still lots to do. checl out pike market, and the aquarium down the hill
If you do get the chance to go, check out the lower levels.
Tractor Tavern in Ballard is good for live country, and a good excuse to pop by the Ballard Locks.
5Point is my favorite dive bar.
Seattle has an excellent transit system and buses run till late in most areas.
The joint cover thing is good for people with diverse tastes because each club has a different style of band (rock, country, reggae, electronica).
If you like reeeally good coffee check out Vivace on Capitol Hill. Nice place to stop and chill for a sec.
More to come.

Well I'm already back in Phoenix so sorry I missed you guys! I did absolutely everything I could, touristy stuff like the needle, ferry, aquarium, market, Chinatown, and then just wandering into cool bars and even got to see glass blowing. My overall view is that Seattle rocks and I'd like to come back when I don't have a schedule to stick to.
If ya'll are ever in Phoenix, let me be your personal tour guide to the desert and its fabulous offerings!

Well I have a friend visiting Phoenix from Boston next week, and despite being born here (then living far away for 35 years, I've been back for two) I sure am having trouble thinking of anything to do that's the least bit interesting. This has got to be by far the biggest most boring american city.
Thinking of going out of town to Jerome/Sedona then Artwalk and or Rythym Room friday night. As a tourist destination though phoenix seems to be mainly golf resorts, and more importantly, the place where the airport is that you then explore the rest of the state from.

Tomorrow at the Rhythm Room my band is playing at the Rockabilly Car Show, Friday we're playing Holgas for the First Fridays Art Walk. There's two things right there!
I think you just have to look a little harder around here! For instance, I saw a badass theatre production of Hedwig at the Soul Invictus Gallery last night.
But--cultural mecca we're not, that's for sure... You can look for me at the artwalk, I'm the really tall redhead with the cowboy hat and the tattoos!
