Hm... would you mind explaining it to me? Note: the next comment is NOT an attempt to fish for compliments, just an explanation of where I'm coming from. I grew up being called ugly by everyone I went to school with, 12 years of training me to think that I was unattractive... so, while I've been getting better at looking at myself in a mirror and going "Oh, look! I'm pretty!"... (and do it unfortunately often enough that I worry about coming across as vain...)... I don't get the "fucking hot" aspect as it applies to my appearance.. other than being slightly stacked and not hiding it, of course :)

DD - that's perfect, thanks :) For a sec, I thought the second glass was filled with jello, which would be a yumminess I haven't even thought of :)
TITWI - from what I understand (this is the first time I've done dreads, and none of my friends have, so this is all from online sources..)... I am supposed to keep my dreads and scalp really clean and dry, so the hair is semi-stripped and will be willing to snarl up on itself with a bit of help, which comes in the form of holding a dread close to the root and rubbing it around in a circle to agitate it and make it want to tangle.
So far, I've washed mine at least twice a week (I'm playing waterpolo with them in, so getting them wet more often than recommended, oops), rewaxed them once, used a tightening salt-based gel on them twice, and have put elastics back on about half of them (keep forgetting to bring elastics with me when I go to flake in the sun and play with my hair...), because the elastics seem to do a better job of keeping the roots bundled together than just trusting the wax/gel to..
Might be nice to have some professional guidance in the forum now :)

<blush> Okay... well, that "not fishing for compliments" bit didn't appear to be really effective.
Well, thanks folks... for the support for my looks AND my personality :) That didn't get much praise earlier in life either.. but, since I like who I am so much, I wouldn't bother going back to change any of it.
Somewhat related query: did any of you go to your highschool reunion? Why? Why not? If you did, how was it? Did it meet your expectations/needs?
I've never wanted to go to mine, but some friends suggest it would be somehow healing.. <shrug>

X - Rock, TITWI and I are all on the same page. Hot.
I've heard 10th reunions can be a bit lame because there can be (amazingly) some residual competitiveness, clickiness, etc. I went to my 20th and it was a blast. Everyone was very accepting of each other, and it was so mindblowing to be in a room of people all almost exactly your same age who scattered every whichaway. The road not traveled is very interesting, ya know?

BC: Just a client :)
RD: Heh, you likes?
X: more to good dread maintenance than just wax! In fact most of my maintenance work I don't use wax at all, you can do that at home easily. I recommend clients only pay me for the stuff that's hard to do on your own, and no more often than every 6 months or so. Though I imagine if you want to start new dreads, playa dust will help tons! XD

My High school reunion me and another guy end up with two chicks in a car up a canyon that was a make out place when we were kids...anyhow making out with the chicks in the middle of nowhere, dark canyon (called Niles Canyon) supposedly haunted by a bride killed on the highway(google it) and then this huge bear of a dude comes walking towards the car covered in blood and screaming, pounding on the windows...

Hm.... okay, that almost sounds like I should keep an eye out for the next one.. hitting 20yrs in 2009, could be interesting. I did run into one of the cool girls (we were a hockey town, so they were called Puck Fucks) at home last Christmas, and she was really nice (I hope my face didn't show how surprising I found that...)... I think I'd just have to make sure I approached it like BM - no expectations :)

Look after the roots mainly, to keep them well dreaded! I do alot of fixing up of pulls and grnarly bits, and loose hairs. That's the slightly trickier stuff. But just play with them alot, surf, be in places with 50MPH winds, etc, all helpsthisisthatwhichis wrote: OK, never having to deal with dreads before, Stupid question.... Going to your high school reunion would be healing in that you would get to see that all those upitty kids who were so in and so cool were niether of those things. And you may not need to know that but deep down in the place whre it hides (even from yourself) your ego does need to know.

Rockdad,
it SHOULD work. (URL) You gots to have patience. (don't give up on it till it times out)
Use WMP 9 or later. or this: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
free and works on most platforms.
Only so many slots, too, so if they're all full you gotta wait.
Shit, can't stop sounding like tech support.
Somebody.... a bottle o sumpin quick!

Lots of things to think about.. thanks, gentlemen. <curtsey>
K, Wildilocks, are you ready for your first task as my personal hairdresser? <grin> Please explain how I can make my roots get rough and snarly and tangled.. when they seem to be slick from wax! Less wax? No wax on roots? Wax is good, use elastics to hold roots together while they get snarled? Professional advice welcome :)
