We need to figure out who our advance crew is going to be. The only reason I keep including myself is because Scott and I always came early so it's "tradition" (although that doesn't make it a good idea in the changed circumstances, I realize). Also, I like to belive that having an extra day or two will give me more time to acclimatize. So we need like 3 or 4 hard workers to come on Friday/Saturday and get the basics up and fight off land grabs. Also, Robbidobbs will be stationed there while she's getting up portapotties. She won't have the energy to help, but that's okay. I suggest that as best we can the early birds should be reliable core members of hte camp.

Whatever that means.

Do we have a firm list? Who's interested in coming early? Mozy, can you as you are bringing so much infrastructure? Or should some one pick it up from you in Sac?

I think Sput has the list of arrivals.
I can come out Sat. if you need someone, I was considering it anyway.

I believe that I have a solution that requires less space with a higher capacity, and will build a prototype in the next week or two to determine it’s capability. If it works as I expect, I will provide details, if it does not work, I will never mention it again!
I got into this idea a few years ago and did some on-playa research on the issue. My conclusion is that evap ponds really don't work too well. The soap floats to the surface, makes a thick film and really slows down evaporation. It's tough and messy to get water out of them. Plus they take up quite a lot of space, which is a suprisingly big issue despite the fact that the event is on a vast open desert.

The best method for showers I've seen and tried is this: go with individual showers with drip trays. The drip tray can be anything from a large plastic plate for under a planter or a big cooking sheet - anything you can stand on that has a lip. Before your shower the next day, about half the water will be gone. Tilt the tray up and pour the remainder into an empty water jug to be packed out.

Idividual showers have always worked for me too! Use those black mortar mixing tubs And just sprinkle extra water that does not evap on Playa each day. (Dust Control)

No computer but good lighting I just did not want to go there until I can work out the details this down with the lighting guys. I have the tent and have set it up and camped under it just a small lamp hung on the pole lit the whole tent. White lights with gels of any color we want. I am looking at one or two slow moving lights to give a slow movement to the tent. I want every one that walks by the bar at night have a need to stop by. I do this for a living lets trip some people out shall we. Tables for the bar 1/2 whisky kegs you can get everywhere now with a painted plywood on top for a table. Playa benches for the seating. 3 to 4 love seats with one whisky table. 4 or 5 set ups around the bar.

I was thinking about the playa benches and started wondering if even middle priced lawn chairs or those plastic chairs might not be cheaper, lighter and easier to transport. not to mention one more thing that wouldn’t need to be built.

Just like to share what we use in our camp the last 8 years.. The same ones..
I got about 5 different size wire spools. Yea, you know the ones. Mine are 2ft to 3 ft across in table size.. Got some cheap wild fabric and stapled it down and painted the center core. You can find them for free outside electric supply store's . or at job site. A Lady can always con them out of the counter guys.. Men are pigs you know..

Side note; Not good for sitting tho..

What, she won't beat me with her purse if I contradict her?

Dang, maybe we should get straightboys to dress up in drag and have purse fights if they want a drink...

uh-oh, nogganoodle is offering to help cook. And since a theme camp marches on it's stomach, we may not be able to refuse...

The Theme camp Questionnaire has been submitted.

We have a blog at http://eplayabar.blogspot.com/

I used this map which is one of Sput's that I had to modify to comply with ORG requirements.

Ride share

Post by theCryptofishist » Tue Jun 06, 2006 4:13 pm

So, the truck got towed from my mother's driveway this morning (thank you Dustdevil) and at this point we're close enough to playa time that I may just drive it up there for the event. Does anyone need a ride? One person only, with a liscence and insurable (if you don't carry your own I'll call my company.) Trade off driving, leave early (I hope), share gas, maybe a hotel if we are tired in or out, San Francisco Bay Area--or central valley.
