normally a tow (barge ship, tanker etc) is from 1000- 3000 feet behind the tug.
A target tow is 4-5 miles behind the tug. Kinda cool to watch too, exocet skims above water at 4-5000 mph. and delivers 1000 pounds of happiness.
We also have huge red marks on our back deck, to delineate us as a Non-target. we only do this once or twice a year though so it is actually pretty cool.
get your pants all sewed up?

I'm on the same side of 50 as you, SG, and it seems pretty right to me. I think the range in the group is 20's to 50's. There's a group on Tribe where the nitty gritty of the bar camp is being worked out in greater detail. RockDad or someone else more experienced in this medium can invite you in. I can provide a solar hot water collection and storage system sufficient for approx. 20 showers a day. My main limitation is the amount of water that I can transport. I could provide more heat collection area if an additional water supply is identified. I am also looking into the water evaporation techniques that have been discussed in that forum. I believe that I have a solution that requires less space with a higher capacity, and will build a prototype in the next week or two to determine it’s capability. If it works as I expect, I will provide details, if it does not work, I will never mention it again!
I can bring a fair supply of tools with me, if there are special tools that are needed, let me know ahead of time and I will see what I can do. I am available if needed to help set up the camp ahead of time, and could also stay to help break it down. A two week stay would be no problem for me if it is needed. During the heat of the day I may take a siesta as the combination of heat and too many years behind a desk can take their toll. I am not sure what the age mix of your group is, but I am slightly on the wrong side of the half century mark, or as my niece tells me, the reason I have joints that ache is that I am halfway to dead.
I would need space for a full size pickup, small dome tent, and area for the shower, heat collection, and evaporator if those are desired. I am pretty quiet with a poor imagination, but looking for new experiences and friends to share them with.
