Dang, NYC to Nevada is one heck of a road trip. We are driving out from Texas and that's long enough for me. I am planning a couple of long days on the road. To recuperate, I also have plans to stay at the Peppermill casino for a couple nights before the gates open. Have fun on your trip!

I've been driving out from west Michigan the last three years, and solo the last two...You're looking at a MINIMUM three day ride, unless you completely eliminate long pit stops, catnaps and scenic overlooks. And add a day on the return trip. My Personal Best so far was last year- Left Friday morning, and rolled into BRC after midnight on Saturday.

Yep
Last year me and two friends drove a uhaul with our stuff from florida to nv. It was an excellent ride, just seeing the scenery change from forests to mountains to rolling hills to desert was incredible. Doing it again this year except going to spend a lot more time stopping along the way to see the sights.
Hey, I am in Wisconsin (although what part at the end of August is kind of up in the air at this time...), and just found out on Friday I am going to have the last week of August and the first week of September off, so from a time stand point I would be able to attend Burning Man after all! This would be my first time (finally!).
Anyway, I might be looking for a ride. (I dunno about driving my little Saturn wagon all the way out to Nevada, esp. since the air conditioner is NOT working!)

From NY to Nevada
I'll be in NY with a friend. We might have a van, in which case we'll be looking for people to share driving and gas. I'll know within a week...if anyone is interested, let me know. It's also possible for us to leave from Toronto...

BALTIMORE TO BRC - I-70 ROUTE
I'm coming from Baltimore in a rented minivan with four other people. I've done this Baltimore to BRC trip twice already, both times in a larger rented passenger van. The first time with 9 people stuffed in there (and our gear!)
Believe me, it's doable. We made the trip in just over 48 hours, we ended up camping overnight in Yosemite Nat'l Park just because we arrived a day ahead of schedule. We had no idea we could make it across a continent so fast!
To BRC, we're taking the I-70 Route this time, as I have in past years. We'll pass Columbus, OH... Indianapolis, IN... St. Louis, MO... Kansas City, KS... Denver, CO... and then drive all the way to I-15, catch that north to US-50, and drive across the vastness of Nevada the rest of the way to Reno. It's an INCREDIBLE driving experience.
On the way home we'll take I-80 because it's faster and a change of scenery.
Who else is coming from the Baltimore/Washington area?

You must utterly destroy all the sanctuaries where they honored their gods—on the mountain heights, on the hills, and under every leafy tree. Topple their altars, smash their pillars, BURN their sacred groves, and HEW DOWN THEIR IDOLS…
