Synchro - Netherlands
(Tip World, Avatar, Novatekk, Atomik, Transient)
Synchro or Jeroen, as he is formerly known, is one such man who over the years has continually produced a rare blend of trance, leaving a lasting impression on both his listeners and viewers. In 1997 he was signed to the trance label TIP Records, where he released a swag of stomping tracks, such as Kitchen Sync, Power On, See Ya Later Oscillator and Human Oscillator. Since Synchro released his first album Science Friction on TIP, his booking have subsequently picked up 400%.Synchro has seriously explained how making music means so much to him. And the rush that it gives him to play live and DJ. He quotes Tony De Vit saying: “It’s a real high when you play a track and the whole house goes bananas and you can multiple that by a hundred if it’s a track you made yourself”.

Image
Terry Mullan - Chicago, IL
(Catlyst Records, Kontrast, EAM)
Music has always been the driving force in Terry's life, from Jazz band to DJ'ing it was only a matter of time before Terry made his career in music. Dj'ing has taken Terry all over the world, where he's been exposed to many different styles of dance music. Feeling miffed by the overwhelming popularity and sheer amount of vacuous music in the dance scene, eventually led Terry to take a stand for his sound. Starting a label that specialized in the sounds of Chicago and funky music was the only plan. As a DJ Terry knew that there was no way the sound would be denied when presented properly. With his faith in the music, Terry planned to turn people on to these sounds. Facilitating this vision was easier with friends like Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva who ran Plus 8 Records.

Image
Patrick DSP - Toronto, Canada
(www.patrickdsp.com, Hardsignal, Hydraulix, Cluster)
Patrick Gharapetian’s dreams of becoming a superhero were thwarted the day he was caught shoplifting by his parents. Not to let this deter him from his dreams, he decided to pursue another avenue to help save the world - not from the usual suspects and evil villains, but from mainstream, over-played generic cookie-cutter music. He foresaw boy-bands and teeny-bobber girls taking over the world and he knew he could not stand idly by and let that happen. Since then he has dedicated his life (at least the musical part of it) to the other side of good - Evil.

Image
Keith MacKenzie - Florida
(www.illeveneleven.com, Zone, Afterdark)
Having earned a reputation for workin the bassbins proper w/ his upfront selection of breakbeat pressure, Keith MacK has solidified himself as a cornerstone in the US breaks movement. Being apart of DJ Icey's legendary Zone Records and an original member of Afterdark Records, as well as recently starting his own imprint..illeven:eleven, Keith continues to push forward w/ his cutting-edge sound, while at the same time providing a positive vibe towards the dance scene. His releases include collaborations w/ artists such as infiniti, dj fixx, and brian van dalen have made him not only a dancefloor favorite, but also popular w/ breaks dj's worldwide.

Isn't there some sort of prohibition about promoting a commercial event?

It's almost like he's asking for donations so he can attend the burn.

Well then why don't you report it as commerce instead of snarking like a useless twit?

Can we bring our flame effect art car? Propane fire canons are OK, right? Are class 2 and class 3 fuels permitted for flame effects? You guys will have a fire marshal and EMT on site, right?

Oh, hang on... This looks like its just a rave :(

or we can endlessly mock someone who dillutes the boards commerce rules to a point of being irrelevant, then watch as they defend themselves at the expense of everyone else.

It can't be a rave because the sign specifically states:

No illegal substances.

BFD.
I don't take kindly to the feeling of having my humanity diminished because I belong to a dispised minority group, or to having my voice silenced thereby.
Further, I would expect members of other dispised minority groups, racial, ethnic, sexual "deviants," practisioners of unpopular professions would support that. Of course, I've been radicalized by various experiences.
I can say is that over the years I did take a lot of abuse from people who looked down on me for my status as a member of a minority group, always thinking "yeah, well, it's the best I can do, better to have the skin of a rhinoceros, at least I'm getting some awknowledgement" and the funny thing is, those friendships turned out to be worthless.

Or maybe you don't remember the ending of The Hunting of the Snark, where the hero disapperes because the Snark was a Boojum, you see.

I am now disengaging.

if that thin skinned remark was not directed at me it was careless.

eta: by which I mean that I felt I was being asked to stuff my experience away and not mention it as it was "abberant."

You are often unclear and that often looks less than civil.

Ok wow!

I am both happy and a little bewildered by all the comments. Glad to have turned a few heads but saddened by the lack of openness displayed in them.

------------------------------------
If you think Stilldream is just a rave then go ahead and lock your doors to your closed mind.
------------------------------------

Stilldream is something magical and in all of the years the only thing we have been closely compared to is a mini Burning Man. Which to me is a great honor to be compared to one of the best events in this world. Though I know we are a long shot from it, but still the gesture was nice when said.

I have been attending burning man for 4 years now and have participated in two theme camps, so i think I know a little about the community.

I would have never posted this here if I didn't think people would be interested in what we do. This year we are really taking it to the next level with art workshops, guided meditations, and hopefully even more.

-----------------------------------------------

I doubt any of you came by but here's our camp from Burning Man you might have seen us in the 9 o'clock plaza as "Operation Camp" or played a game of "on your back black jack" on our mobile Tiki Hut / Bar / King Size bed.

That giant lizard man is our one of our camp leaders, "Cock-a-Saurus Rex".

Well was hoping to reach out to some of our Burning Man brethren, sorry to offend some of you by sharing our event.

BTW this is not a commercial event. Im nothing more then a graphic deisgner who expresses his love for the world by putting together events like this.

I created the flyer, made the website, booked all the djs, found the venue, and along with me compadres have put together 4 succesful Fundraising events between Sacramento and REno over the last 6 months to help raise money for this event.

Is it commercial if its put together with your own blood, sweat and tears?

Theres no big money to be made. No big money investors behind this event.

Just me and a few friends.

This event over the last 5 years has never generated a dime of profit and actually we are in the red by a long margin.

I'm really surprised at the lack of understanding and openess from the community here.

thanks for replying with additional information gamma, that helps tremendously.

but the lack of understanding goes both ways - how do you expect people to know all of this? why do you automatically assume people can tell this is not some commercially oriented party like the majority posted here? how do people know you are not abusing their board just to push that commercialization?

it happens a lot. i am sorry that you get immeidately associated with that, but you also would have understood if you were an active member on this board. i am not excusing the reaction, i am just saying its normal and not the most reasonable assumption to expect something else.

Spec -

Dude you are not a Moderator, you are a MOMerator. Everybody doesn't need to be touchy feel'leed all the time. Fine if someone is breaking the rules but to just make excuses for everyone on this board all the time makes me want to puke.

Maybe do it in a PM to the poor sap but please don't ever explain what I meant or say sorry for me.

i am not saying sorry for you cabana, i would never feel compelled to do that for you. i was as involved in this as anyone else - i am apologizing more for myself and attempting to explain things. not being overly sensitive, not at all.

but you might want to cut some slack now, as far as i am concerned he has explained himself well so i would like the opportunity to hear his reaction without his need to be overly defensive.

just sayin...
