Additional: I just got my hands on the 30-day trial of Photoshop CS2. (and then I got them on a cracker to register it to full version...Boo Yah!) All I can say is

Oh

My

Gawd.

Sweet evil jesus this program is amazing. Vanishing Point, especially. It's a clone tool that allows you to define a plane in the image and then will adjust your clone stamp to compensate for perspective changes as you move around within that plane. Unreal. The spot healing brush is the closest thing to proof of God's existence that I've seen to date. It's amazing. I've played with a few of the filters, too. I especially like what Sumi-e does:

Why, I purchased it legally, of course. Yup. Definitely.

More before/afters!

Usually, I try really hard to just capture the perfect image on the spot through patience, planning, and simple camera know-how; but sometimes I just can't quite get it perfect, like with this shot where the sun was just too bright to use a slow enough shutter speed to get any motion blur. Or these next two, where I couldn't get the whole fireball into frame because I was just too close to it. So I took the bottom of one fireball, and the top of another. Mishmashed them together with photostitch, and then cloned out the problem areas you see in the first one. Damn this program is fantastic.

Okay, I'm really just showing off now, but I wanted to have some place to put up a few of the things I've created while playing around with my lovely new program. If for some reason anyone wants any of these images in a larger resolution (That man would make a great wallpaper, methinks), just PM me. I can also offer a few tips on how to use the program, in the odd case that you're more of a novice at this than I am. Here are two more before/after pairs.

One of the more interesting things I saw at Dark Skies (the Las Vegas regional event) in October, but one which also attracted a lot of other photogs, most of whom were not considerate to stay out of one another's frames:

As you can see, I used vanishing point to remove the chair, and then used a combination of the clone tool and spot healing brush to remove the photographer.

My wife, having graciously agreed to be made up and photographed for my brother-in-law's portfolio (he dreams of being a makeup artist, but is rather an amateur at it, as can be seen):

I did a lot of work here, fixing uneven skin tones due to poor body makeup application, correcting slipshod lipstick application and smearing, adjusting eye color and white balance, correcting minor blemishes and scowl lines (most of which were caused by me, so it all balances) and scars, adding the fade effect, changing the color of her nose jewel, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. I'm pretty proud of the result (as well as the subject matter!).
