Camp 9 from outer Space, looking for a few freaks

Post by Bob A » Mon May 15, 2006 12:15 pm

That’s Right Camp 9 from outer space. Based on the Brilliant work of director, writer, star, Ed Woods. Our theme camp pays tribute to this great man and all other really bad sci fi that just wanted to tell a story.

Our theme camp will be designed around our name sake movie Plan 9 from Outer Space. With cheesy flying saucers, fake graveyard props that fall down, just like the movie.

We will be showing movies from Ed Wood and other worthy people during evening hours on various nights during the week. These movies fit in well with Burning Man and the theme, since they use really cheesy sets and usually convey a theme of Hope and fear, Hope for the future and fear of the present or the aliens.

We are looking for a few good people to join our camp who appreciate our view of reality. The camp will be a placed camp so you will be able to tell all your friends where to find you. We are not looking to be a high work camp; the goal is to run movies a few nights during the event. The more people who join us who want to run movies and/or bring their own, the more nights we will run movies.

The camp will have a shower area for camp members and a shade / chill structure for the public, and plenty of space for tents and private space. The camp will also be hosting a mutant vehicle, the tiki bar, that will be cruising the playa setting up random oasis’s. The camp will have a small bar to serve drinks during the movies and we will have space for afternoon workshops if anyone wants to run or teach anything.

Friday night will be a big Party featuring The Rocky horror picture show, with a live cast. We did this last year at videoGasm and will be bringing it back. More details to follow on this separately. After Rocky on Friday we will show Shock treatment the sequel and continue to sunrise with other (er) great films.

Its not to early to pick you theme camp, only 110 days left until the man Burns. We are open to virgins or veteran burners. all ideas to contribute to our camp are welcome. A tentative map of the area we asked for is at: http://www.camp9fromouterspace.com/Plans.html

looking for a camp still?

Post by Bob A » Thu Jun 22, 2006 9:55 pm

Are you still looking for a theme camp to be part of? Well Camp 9 from outerspace may be your camp. We've still got some space, and are looking for anyone who wants to be part of a fun low key camp. We'll be showing odd movies by Ed wood and other talented directors. These films are all really bad scifi that beautifully illustrate the hope and fear of society. We can use help running the movies some nights, running bar, decorating camp, or driving around in our portable tiki bar, do as much or as little as you want. Reply here or PM me if you are interested. We'll also be running The Rocky Horror picture show again this year at midnight on Friday with a live cast if that floats your boat.

Hey, if it's not too late, I'd like to be a part of the cast. I'm familiar with (as in have performed in front of an audiance) a number of the roles, but prefer The Good Doctor (I can provide my own wheelchair!) Think there's space for me?
I don't know what I'm doing.
