Nice Espresso! :D Yeah, I'll make my case one more time to register, and if not, no big deal. Plus we now have two first timeer's, and just going to open up their eyes will be nough, let alone having a grip of people swinging by. Hello TITWI! Good eve to you...sunny/72 degrees here.

In some ways I wish I had waited longer, but I also know I didn't start soon enough. I probably should have gotten the image out there as soon as I knew. Right now we have about 1300 pixels spoken for. That's less than half of what we need to make the head. It's enough to do an outline of the whole image, but I'm beginning to feel like maybe we just play around a bit this year and test different methods for securing the pieces, then do the full blown thing next year. Maybe just do a North arrow in black that is really big, only make it face southeast, or point toward Detroit or something so that it messes people up when they look at the image.
It's going to be alright.

Can I have a teal one shoegirl? (the one between the red and blue)

OPEN IDEA: Colored dyes at Bar Camp? Blue, red, purple colored/ alien looking drinks? Yellow, green, and magenta colored Vergina's? (I do alot of color mixing doing fine arts, wonder what flavor of visuals we could come up with...

Best part about registering is getting in early, like Saturday. Time to set up, watch the city grow, get acclimated

Sput you should bring enough paper to make as many squares as you have pixels, then you can model different pictures on the playa.

And "acclimate" being the key word. The first arrival day is almost written off just getting the body prepped to the altitude and climate/moisture change (fatigue/sleepyness). I live in rolling, low level green hills, rivers and creeks. The desert is exactily out of my physical element, but that's just another reason I like going out, as well :)

Good call ED...always nice to wake up before they drag your sleeping bag to the outer radial street :D We've always showed up with some one about 25 feet away from us, whereas they are our first burner contact/neighbor. I like to try as mush as can to help set up new neighbors as they show up on Monday, Tuesday, etc. Who knows: that person you set up their 3 person tent might be the same person who draws you a picture, gets you a shot of vodka, or rubs your back! :D

J***, nice game/ match point in "Just One Word".

Or better yet sheet magnet and a sheet of steel , .... little squares say 3/8ths x 3/8ths , 1300 to 3000 of them corresponding to the colors and numbers of pixels people are likely to bring then assuming you will likely end up with who knows how many real pieces of fabric on the playa you can work out what you can do with them using your 3/8th in. model squares, ... or have a contest to come up with the best on the fly idea.

I guess I’m just better with moving “ things “ around than penciling in squares of graph paper. but that would worl too

ED, have you started an "Espresso Camp" thread in the 2006 Theme Camp topics? I would love to play in there, and maybe even do some e-advertising and posters for the camp. I am gonna bump up COFFEE CAMP's thread sometime, but just for novelty/2007 campaign purposes.

Cool Espresso! Yeah, I worked on a www.org for our camp that isn't published yet, but has some pics from the previous years, and a ton from the Phoenix Festival (05', late July). Found out that there won't be a PhoenixFest this year, which is too bad, as would have had the means/time to do both events. Plus, PF is a good prep up/training ground for trying things out before going to the dust flats.
