Drama ensues here:

spect: I don't think it's a fake controversy. Chicken is trying to take the BORG2 name for his personal use. We're trying to figure out if anyone really cares, and maybe it's best just to start over with a fresh name anyway. But some say the BORG2 name is worth fighting for. So yeah, maybe drama is behind it after all. But at least it's an interesting drama (to me).

someone just up and deletes all the posts, all the pictures, all the topic discussions, the whole thing - and never, ever asked for feedback from other members of the group?
why anyone would want to be dragged into the middle of that kind of ego posturing and control-freak politics is beyond me.. well, if someone really really really needed art money i guess they might. probably not for long though.
other than the occasional commerce violation or posting another persons phone number or address, there is a damn good reason why a moderator here would never do something like that. god i hope it stays that way because thats how you empower the community, not some external and disconnected authority figure. the people of the board that make its community are the ones to make that kind of decision.

<< hunh... there is a pretty big correction to make: the old eplaya bbs is no longer archived on-line. at least its still saved. >>
I have tried to access it a few times for historical reasons, to no avail.

yep, and it sucked when nipples passed away since there were several requests for access to his posts.
EDIT: you know, i need to back off from being as critical of the group as i am, i definately dont want to discount the fantastic efforts that were made in the name of art and bringing people together in support of it. yes, there was controversy, and i can only guess thats part of chicken johns thing in galvanizing support and attention to a cause. i guess my main issue is something that many people came together in building, and a single person or few take it all out like that. thats inconsiderate, and does not do much for motivation in getting people behind a cause - especially one that promotes "democratic voting."
and i also dont want anyone to think that my words are any more important than anyone else's with the comments around moderation.

Spectabilis, looks like we missed out on the really good part. Don't worry about people misinterpreting what you say. You're advocating openness and preservation. Nothing wrong with that.
If others are having a problem trying to limit and control the main group,,,,,,,,,,no one will confuse your ideals with theirs.

I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

It sure got a lot of people focused on art last year. Last year was an amazing rise from '04. There was also more of a community spirit last year that I believe the whole BORG2 movement acted to catylize. There was definately a *WE* can do it spirit. The borg seemed to make some beneficial changes in their focus. Not sure if they *really* changed all that much, but it sure *seemed* like they got more artists out there.
