Virgins from Europe searching for a camp

Post by stukas » Wed Jun 21, 2006 3:22 am

Greetings everyone!

Me and my girlfriend-lover-companion are gonna travel from Europe to Burning Man this year.
We are both BM-virgins and from what I've read, it is suggested that especially virgins from outside the US should join a camp where they can catch the drift of the whole Burning Man phenomenon.

Also, we need to decide whether we should rent a car or a RV. If we can join a camp, we most certainly don't need an RV, I think.

The complete list of theme camps is released at the end of June, is that right?
In the mean time, are there any camps that would like to take us in?

We are both very openminded individuals and quite a bit hippie-esque (on the inside :). We love the psychedelic art at BM, we love the psychedelic experience, we absolutely love music (all kinds of rock, psytrance, everything else), we love nature.

Whatever info and pointers you can give will be greatly appreciated :)

You should also look around for a non-Theme Camp camp. Many people go in groups and camp together, but they aren't an "official registered Theme Camp".

A Theme Camp usually requires a commitment to the Theme Camp activities, and you may not want that additional responsibility at your first Burning Man!

Joining a camp

Come join us at lamplighters. This will be my fifth burn, and my second as a lamplighter. We are responsible for bringing light to the citizens of black rock city. We have excellent facilities in the way of a shade structure and chocie location. Every night we have a procession and light the lanters and then come back to camp and enjoy a warm meal waiting for us. Its a great way of being a vital and active member of the community. We also have a snagria party and a bloodymary party that we host wich has a huge turn out!!!

The list isn't complete yet. Lamplighters will definately be there, and I've heard it's an excellent camp for virgins.

Like Smoochin?

The SmoochDome could use a few more members to round out a mostly New York based camp. We've got about 15 people so far (including an English guy, a German, and an Australian) and are looking to max out around 20-25.

Since we're creating a chill space / lounge, there's some setup and break down, but no work during the week of the burn. Common space is a 32" geodesic dome (using Cristo's The Gates as the fabric for the shade structure, if you can believe it!!) to be filled with a bunch of sofas and lights.

And we're part of New Amsterdam Village, it's a nice group... You can use google images to find smoochdome photos from 2004. http://tinyurl.com/kj9nz

Shoot me an email at [email protected] if you're interested.
