Serving those people who want to provide some kind of service or experience at Burning Man, but who are limited by a lack of resources and space, The Many aims to be a sort of meta-camp, where people are invited to use our infrastructure in order to erect their own events.

Our style is informal and organic; the camp will mutate on its own, favouring loose guidelines over strict rules.

We plan to operate during the day only, we have big shade and some generator power to share.

HK, I am impressed by your site & cause! I would like to pass on a possible design flaw with using sewer pipe for your center pole. I've gone that wrought & witnessed two other camps try it, the abs or pvc will break under the wind flex IMO. you may want to consider renting or borrowing some scaffolding? I went to 6" aluminum & used a joint sleeve 10' length for a 24' mast, it still left me cautious. If you could find an old sail boat mast???? might work but transport becomes an issue.

We are actually using a radio tower for the center pole. I wouldn't imagine sewer pipe would work very well. The radio tower will have no issues bending in the wind.

We've taken your (and everyone else's) advice and revised our shade structure design so that the centre pole is a 20 foot radio mast capable of withstanding ginormous compressional loads.

Look for the Royal Kanuckistan Naval beacon (on top of the mast) at night.
