Progress on the playa, for grin I Googled earth - the BM sight. You can see all the progress being made over 4th of Juplaya. If I was more geek oriented I would post a url but I;m sure someone will!

I have no idea how often Google snaps new shots. At this point I figure they won't get new pics until the burn.

I've always heard that the google folks were burners. If you'll notice everything around BRC is a lower res, but the city is highres like other points of interest. Hmmm...

And it looks like that pic was taken a few weeks before the Burn (last year I assume). You can see center camp being built.

And also, you can get the weather for Black Rock City on weatherunderground. Go ahead... give it a search.

The Google folks are indeed burners. In fact, a tidbit of Google trivia is that the very first time they ever tricked out the Google logo wasn't with a snowman or pumpkin or any other holiday-themed Google Logo. It was for Burning Man in 1999.

And getting a bit back on topic, the aerial photograph on Google maps was snapped in early to mid August of either 2004 or 2005. Based on what I've read and seen online, it's most likely 2004 data.

That was a fellow who I believe was a virgin last year. He works for a company that takes sat. pics and apparently arranged for it to happen.

Check the Megapixels threads... he was on there talking about it and trying to arrange for another shot this year.

yep, i think technopatra once contacted the guy that did the artwork. or maybe it was dvd.. or at least he would know.
