Rian, I'm truly sorry for the loss that we share in Nathan's passing. I know the lives of many are diminished this day and full of loss, sadness, anger and grief.

Nathan was a good guy. I find it hard to believe that a year has flown by since I took this photo of him at last year's Fourth of Juplaya. He posted on the 3playa board as Sgt. What and spent a good deal of time over at our encampment which was an awesome shade structure.

On this particular day we were calling him Sgt. Monkeyboy.

He had us howling!!! The original drunk monkey.

Badger, I love that picture, I remember sitting next to him there and cracking up. The only problem with the photo is that you can't see his signature smile.

Go in peace, Nathan. You will be missed.

thanks everyone.

I keep thinking of the contents of his trunk. Usually, there's a skull, a singing pig head on a stick, and nesting clown dolls. Perfect.

Rian, I have found the most special people that Ive lost, tragically, when thought about were only ours to borrow! To come to this earth in all thier wonder spread joy and love, only to be taken back suddenly to the powers that created them.
I will forever be thankful for the short time I was given to be known and loved by these special angels!

I want to offer my condolences to everyone impacted by Nathan's passing. I never met the man...but I've sure met a lot of people he's touched or influenced. My thoughts are also with Shoshana....I hope she's being taken good care of as she works through everything that's happening.

Rian told me about this. It just makes me think of this song:

And heroes they come and they go
And leave us behind
As if we're s'posed to know

Rian,

I don't check the BM related stuff as much as I used to and am sorry for missing this until now. I remember (mostly from the "other" site) when he came into your life and when he was stationed far away and how you kept in touch. I remember your descriptions of times you spent together after he returned including one particular dive where you had a little trouble. And that is life; fun times, bad times, all of it is time shared and the sharing of one's life, even moments at a time, warts and all, is the most honest gift there is.

Syd Barrett, Founder member of Pink Floyd

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun...
Shine on you crazy diamond
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky...
Shine on you crazy diamond
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze..
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon...
Shine on you crazy diamond
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light...
Shine on you crazy diamond
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze...
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
You don't need a license to drive a sandwich

Rian, we all share our pain. Remember we all miss those we love that return to the spiritual world. He has re-entered the spiral moving in the upward spiral. Please try to envision that really haven't lost him. he's spiritual being is still all around you. Looking down upon you. speak to him in your dreams, but know that you have to let him go. He will want to move on now. You will meet once again, I promise you that.

Two years ago my best friend past away. I couldn't get him out of my mind. I had missed him so and spoke to him very often. One night while I was sleeping and in my dream calling to him, in his distinctive ascetic humorous way he responded:

"LEAVE ME ALONE!"

I was shocked then chuckled and said, Yes, Joe, I guess its time for me to let you go for I was holding on to his spirit too long. time for him to be on his way.

He's OK and holy once again. I just had to know.

Sad as it is to let the one's we love we go. we must let them go for them and ourselves.

the spirals of fire will burn hot, high and spin fast this year at Burning Man.

Wish you all were here!

Joe was humble about it too, and he says that it wasn't posed, just luck.

my sweet kitty Godzilla...he was my little buddy for 19 years. He lived in Tulsa, Austin, Dallas, NY and Norman, OK. When he was a kitten he used to ride in the basket on my bicycle. He was a great cat and a purring machine. I sure will miss that little guy. How lucky I was to have him for so long...I hope that there's lots of shrimp where you are Godzilla.

Godzilla.
You were my best little couch buddy.
I can still feel your presence.
As the waters of rememberance and forgetfulness flow by,
I have no doubt
your spirit will wash against mine and roam the halls of my mind for many , many years.

New BRC Ranger dies-7-29-06

Post by barbara meyer-spidell » Wed Aug 23, 2006 4:22 pm

Ranger Hank? aka Steve Shair of BRC will be unable to attend BM this year due to an untimely death. His ashes will be scattered by his brother Dan Shair aka Samurai of Reno NV. He will be sorely missed and was a longtime 'Burner' beginning in the late 90's. 2006 would have been his first year as a Ranger. He was most happy to receive training this year in San Fran., and blogged about his excitement to see Larry Harver's office.

Steve was most know to be camped in a Bright Green 1967 International School Bus pulling a Bright Green VW Bug and for awhile went by he name Greeen Hermut. He usually was found near or just outside of Milwaukee's Snowflake Village, to be near Burner friend Barbara Meyer-Spidell, aka BibitMagnus who assisted Center Camp Cafe with Stage duties in 2002 representing the Middlestates.

He will continue to be loved and remembered for all eternity.
Should you know Steve and want to be a part of his ceremony-Go to the Temple and ask for Napalm, as she will coordinate his ceremony.
