I AM A CASTING PRODUCER FOR ABC TELEVISION AND I AM LOOKING FOR A FAMILY THAT GOES TO BURNING MAN TOGETHER.

FAMILIES SHOULD BE 2 PARENT HOMES WITH AT LEAST ONE CHILD BETWEEN THE AGE OF 6 AND 7 LIVING AT HOME FULL TIME.

Hold on a second!

Perhaps we're missing some details here. Is this an out of the blue request or has this been run by the LLC for their review? There's a chance it may have and if so it's sort of like Discovery Times at BRC: Part 2.

I did some searching on the Discovery Times stuff and found this thread that offers a sort of interesting flashback...

It seems that in that case people including myself started making assumptions and not all the facts were in...it was sanctioned by the LLC after all. That changed the debate entirely and many of us know where that led. So...I think we should hold our fire until this individual comes back and gives us some more details on what she's trying to do.

Edit: Badger's recent post in Case Studies says it better than I did. Now if AG could weigh in on this....

I'm wondering if this is more Reality TV bullshit, if it's an ABC News directed effort, or if they're approaching this as a documentary like Discovery Times "attempted" (cough, cough) to do. That's what I really want to find out. The part about paying money does kinda taint the whole idea regardless of intent in my book. Still everyone deserves to have their voice /opinion / idea heard so that's what I'm trying to ask for here. I've seen this person online last night but she didn't respond to any previous questions...I hope that will change and we'll learn more about this.

It wouldn't be on the playa, I've seen the show. It would be in the home of whatever hapless burner accepted. Of course, it could be that the burner mom would flip the other family entirely, that would be funny. The show makes me laugh like hell when cultures collide. I wonder what type of counter-part family they think is appropriate, religious? nah, someone heavily into commerce, otherwise they'll have missed the point.

Now they just have to find a burner family who'd go along with them. May not be that easy.

Ok, so I haven't seen the show. It may be hilarious...but to come on this board and solicit someone to sign their family up for 20 grand...that's commerce IMHO. So looking at this from that point of view...and looking back at how the eplaya has handled commerce in the past, shouldn't this offer be struck off the board?

Does a family have to have TWO parents.?!!.I mean is THIS really a fair criteria to try and cram burning familys in? IF Middle America and all the nonBURN world wants to witness a media sample(Ha!)of our lifestyle(for lets just say for giggles and the sake of HOPES and FEARS..are they gonna get the real buttah by trying to get a wholesome two parent and shall I assume Hetero in appearances...are they getting a American Broadcast Company education on the benefits of alternative art lifestyles or are they getting a fractile of an hour to get their pitchforks and bibles?

The thread was giong to come down, but it generated so much discussion it was left up. Anyway, moot point, a burner family has agreed to be on the show. They're from SLC as I understand it.

Hey, the event survived Malcolm in the Middle and American Dad, it will survive Wife Swap.
