Hood Peircing

For my birthday I was gonna go in to have my hood peirced. (Augest 4th). And a friend had reccomended I ask fellow burners if they thought it would be healed in time for BM.

According to my reading they say to hold off sex for 5 days so I'm assumeing after that time period the risk of infection decrease. It dosent say anywere how playa dust will affect it though. Hmmm...

Just make sure you keep it clean. Twice daily rinsings with a good anti-septic. I just haven't heard of instances of playa dust being a problem.

It will not likely heal 100% but I doubt it will be a problem. Healing time is usually 4 to 6 weeks.

Risk of infection remains throughout the healing process so be religious with some form of barrier method, condoms/dams, as appropriate, for sexual activity.

All I would add to Badger's good advice is fresh cotton panties daily to minimize dust infiltration.

Take care with the anti-septics. "To much" could slow the healing. I would recommend flooding. Unless there is out side contamntions.

Traditionally, once the hood is pierced the next step would be to install a blower...Depends on what you're driving. Of course two additional piercings would be necessary for racing-style hood retainers.

Happy birthday...August 4th will be my five year anniversary with my wife--we honeymooned at Burning Man.

Your hood will be fine by that time, and you shouldn't need to use any anti-septic. The usual (by that time) care and feeding should be fine. If you're in the bay area or pacific northwest, ask your piercer--if they haven't been, they at leaast know the conditions and can give you some good advice.

August 4th is a good day to play with your junk.

But then, every day is a good day to play with your junk.
