Hello North Carolina!

Post by VerbenaMaya » Tue Jun 29, 2004 7:54 am

Hi Ya'll! I have noticed various random NC threads, some old or outdated. I am a virgin burner from just east of Raleigh, so I sympathize with anyone else looking for information on NC Burner action and friends. Just wanted to give a summary of my findings and say hello to my fellow north carolinians. Sorta start a fresh thread if you will.

Our NC Regional Contact is Victor Coffin, better known as "Diesel". From what I know, which is little, he loves to burn & loves to burn stuff, perhaps not an eplaya addict, but seems like a fun guy in a crazy sort of way.
Here is the BM official NC contact page: http://regionals.burningman.com/us_nc.html
Subscribe to the list if ya want, lately I have not seen alot of activity there though, but send email via the list and everyone on it will remember they subscribed to it.

There is also a Yahoo Group for Carolina Burners, which looks like it is waking up. Caro Burn. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/caro_burn/

And lets be sure everyone knows there's gonna be fire in our own backyard, and a man, the Bamboozler, to burn in it. Don't miss out.
Transformus: Fire on the Mountain, The Southeast Regional Burn, July 30 - August 1, 2004 , at Deerfield's, North Carolina (just south of Asheville).
I believe tickets are still available for just $28. For more info Check out http://www.transformus.com
There is also a Yahoo Group for Transformus, and all the wonderful people & volunteers putting this shin-dig together. And seeing how its just around the corner, this list is fairly active. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transforma/

There are also some swell folks from the Charlotte area who help bring to BRC, the Big Puffy Yellow Camp. http://www.bigpuffyyellow.com/
So far, the only organized camp I am aware of with NC folks.

There is a ride share thread for BM 2004 outta NC, think its still a valid offer. http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=3592

OK, well, thats it, hope this info is helpful to someone, if there is anything I missed feel free to share or correct me. What do I know, I just happen to be literate and curious. And if your from NC and attending Transformus and/or Burning Man, or just thinking about it, please say hello and we can all get the party started, or join the the party in progress! Thanks.

Thanks, Maya, for putting all the NC info into one post.
See you at the work weekend.
It's not because I'm old. Your music actually does suck.

Just wanted to say it was so great to meet some of local folks. Gizmo, you earn your name for sure. Deerfields is just beautiful, and in 18 days there will be no doubt that southerners know how to burn, cause Transformus is gonna rock the mountain. See you all there.

Long Shot...

Post by flipper » Tue May 09, 2006 12:32 am

I know this is a longy long shot, but I'd love to find a one way ride from BRC to CLT or RDU area. I live in Chicago, but I have a high school class reunion in Durham (school of S&M) the weekend after the burn...

In 2003 I bumped into a friend at Burning Man. I hadn't seen her in a LONG time (15 years?). And being that we both knew each other through the military, it was kind of shocking that she was at Burning Man. We actually bumped into each other as we were dacing round the man. Weird. Anyway, she gave me her contact info then, but we just reconnected a few weeks ago. I told her about Transformus, and she really wants to go. Thank you for your help.
