High End DVCAM Needed:

Post by Kinetic II » Fri Oct 24, 2003 11:59 pm

I'm in the middle of a project that is needing a high end DV Camcorder. We're currently looking around for something similar to the Sony DSR-500WSL unit, and current pricing to rent a unit is upwards of $2K per week, the camera itself seems to run about $14K.

My questions are: Would anyone be able to recommend a high end shop that would carry something like this?
Has anyone used this particular camera and can give me feedback on how they like it? The team I'm on would like to hear any feedback.

I'm posting this here among other places because with such a diverse group of burners, there's a chance someone has used a DVCAM like this and could offer recommendations on this unit or alternatives, as well as sources for it. Our critical need will be to shoot in 16:4 or HDTV style format for those not familiar with the terms.

Thanks

I often heard the sorrel nag (who always loved me) crying out, ..."Take care of thyself, gentle Yahoo."

Foam: Thanks. I have your info from H's board too. No decision has been made on what to do just yet.
De Facto: This is a KC project, allthough I might pull a midnight requisition order out and borrow the thing if I get to come out to SF in November or early December.
